    So finally got the bike going, <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
    However, I have the exact same problem that I had on my old engine before it went bang.
    It bogs, as in when if you try to take off with not enough revs it will drop to idle, and will die if you don't pull in the clutch. Once you are either clutch in or in neutral it will still not rev, even with wide open throttle. To get it to rev again you hold as little throttle as you can without it dying until the revs pick up. Then you make sure that you take off with more revs this time. Once you are going it is all good, unless you sit just above idle for a while, otherwise will pull right through to 18500 no probs.

    Now the engine was going sweet on the old bike so I'm going to presume that it's fine. I have stripped the carbs (off the old engine) and cleaned however they are prob not perfect due to the lack of compressed air.
    The only thing I can thing I can think of is the fact that there is no proper seal between the airbox and the carbs, it just slips over the rubber boots. Would it be wise to silicon the airbox to the boots to make a perfect seal between the airbox and the carbs?

    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Jacob

    CHECK OUT THE COLOUR OF YOUR SPARK PLUGS, SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING RICH.

    That is likely by the smell of it and the smoke that it blows.
    What will I need to adjust to fix it?

    Also, after installing the new engine, out of a 3ln but the built in type oil filter, the oil pressure light does not turn off, went on when I filled it with oil and has not gone off since. How do I check if it actually has oil pressure or if it is an electrical fault.

    My 3ln was doin the same thing jake i got the carbs balenced replaced plugs and she runs good now. Not quite as fast with wide open throttle or underload because it not running as rich. I live in tazy so its real cold much the same as N.Z i imagine i was running the bike on Bp ultimate and my machanic told me not to because in winter that will make your bike run too rich and kill your plugs try a tank of unleaded should fix the problem especially when taking of.

    Yeah I was thinking the same thing, and have had the carbs balanced and the plugs replaced as well as a few other things, it got a little better but I suspect that had a little to do with switching to regular fuel like you said.
    The shop told me the bike was running well after the tune up, but after taking it for a ride the problem was still there.
    After talking to the mechanic i found that the idle mixture screws had not been adjusted/tuned, so im beginning to think that this is the problem. However im running low on cash again and I think ill give it a go myself.
    Anyone got any tips on how to do it?
