What is the point..........of Advanced Rider Training?

Well, it might save your life!

Hey all, Chris asked me to post a quick note on this subject, I have just posted a G'day in the new members section so will let you read that at your leisure.

    Getting back to the question.

Passing a test to ride a bike, of any capacity, means you as a rider have attained the lowest acceptable standard as deemed by your testing authority!

To put this into perspective, if you take your test in South Australia, you were not required to demonstrate your traffic knowledge in an accessed road ride, at least when I took my test.

I was so surprised that I qualified as a Rider Trainer to try and convince the authorities to think again, or at least talk to new riders and pass on what knowledge I had already gained as a Rider Trainer in the UK.

I have been training new riders fro 15 years, and have had a hand in developing one of the Advanced Courses available here in Brisbane.

What Advanced Training will give you is an increased level of skill and knowledge leading to an increase in your comfort zone.

This will make you a safer, (and quicker), rider.

The object of any training is not to make you faster than your mates, just safer.  The increase in knowledge allows  you to make better decisions based on better observation, from a better road position.  You see the picture.

Since we are all new here, and still getting to know each other I will hold off here and see what sort of response we get, and see where we go.

I will try to answer general questions, but anything too specific is difficult without seeing you ride or looking at your bike, so maybe this page can take the format of a regular post with a new topic each week, or an open discussion.

So I guess the floor is open....................talk to you all soon!

    Stay safe on the road.

G'day Mark  I like what I'm reading here, we all have skills but are we using correctly?
Guess what I'm saying is we are never too young or old to learn something new. Look forward to some more views from Mark and others on the subject.  Riding a motorcycle in my opion is the greatest aphrodisiac know to man, you gotta love it  Phil
