The side stand seems to be bolted through the foot rest hanger by a few bolts. However the front bolt seems to have stripped . The bolt is ok but whatever it fastens to has gone! Is this the actual alloy hanger or does it go into the frame ? It seems a lot of taking off of parts to find out any body out there who can tell me Trev
This what my bike looks like, the front bolt seems to bolt through the alloy hanger into the frame and yes, it is a bit of work getting it off
Thanks a lot for the pictures I cannot see any room for the nut unless its captive and welded into the frame lug. Has any one any memories or guidance on this? Trev
Yes bolt 20 i suppose I will have to take the hanger off drill the frame re bush and re tap! Or do you think it will take a 12 m bolt ?
i don't know, but the hanger (part 12 top picture) has to come of for sure, or out of the way to redrill the hole in your frame, it will be a bit of a job because the swingarm is also attached to this piece.
Good job i love the bike its exhausts off gear change off swing arm loosen at least then sort the problem I have ordered some pr tapped bushes that I hope can be fitted and welded then back on with all the stuff as mentioned Thanks for the moral support At least i will be able to have a look on how to fit a main stand as and when i can get one Trev
yeah they're fun bikes to ride, i use mine as work-horse (maybe more a pony) all year round, they are easy and cheap, good luck with yours.
Well i have done it 1st step take the silencers off 2nd step put the bike on a paddock stand (no main stand) 3rd step unbolt the hangers and side stand 4th loosen the swinging arm pivot and then take the nut off 5th disconnect side stand and take hanger off 6th examine the frame to find the 10 mm thread is directly tapped into a piece of 6 mm metal that is but welded to the frame bottom cross memmber this has stripped 7th re-tap at 12 mm and then drill hanger and side stand to fit last step bolt it all back together and we will see how it goes took about 2 hours and while the bike was on the stand replaced the back tire another hours work and the main reason for getting the pit stand hope the weather holds for testing tomorrow Trev
just come in from a 100 kilometer ride on the Honda all i s good The bike sits much better on the side stand now all in all its coming on nicely and a joy to ride on the smaller A roads back in Staffordshire I love it at about 50 mph very smooth and no vibration at all Plenty of performance for me I am planing a 300 mile trip with it shortly but will have a few local runs before then Trev
