Help VL250 Intruder mods

    Hi Guys,
    I have a 250 Intruder, I have put a smaller sprocket on to cruise better at 100kph, a 38 tooth worked great.
    I drilled 6 holes around the original single hole in the exhaust which made it louder without sounding stupid, and now I would like to put pod filters on her, is this a good idea? When I have taken the standard filters off and run it bare it loses grunt at the start but then takes off, do I have to do something with the jets?
    Also, does anyone know how to get any more grunt out of one of these?

    The change in sprocket is good.....drilling a few holes in exhaust to create some sound..OK
    Changing over to POD filters could tip you over the edge....would not recommend.
    Trust me, leaving the stock air filter is the best thing you can do.
    Many on the forum can attest to the heart ache that can occur when fitting PODS.
    The Suzuki VL250 is a comfortable "cruiser" a sport bike...it is not
    I would enjoy it for what it is :thumb_ups:

    1937 Royal Enfield 250, CF Moto 250 V5, Honda's XL250, CBR250, FT500 plus a few others.
    Keep the air box and put a foam filter into it.
    The design of the airbox has a lot to do with how the carbs work. Some on this forum have put the silly little pods on and spent $$$$ trying to get their bike to run properly again. One has even got so frustrated he bought two new carbs. Leave it alone and enjoy it.

    How much did you gain from the sprocket upgrade ?

    @ 100kmph I'm at about 75% / 80% throttle. 100% is 130kmph ish

    I gained about 10kph and it cruises nicely now at 100kph, as others have said though it doesnt increase the power at all. Head winds or hills slow me right down. Will be moving on to something bigger asap...

    I think you will get better results if you squeeze out more power from the engine, I modified my exhaust and intake and re-jetted the carby to suit, it gave it a lot more torque throughout the rev range, it accelerates much faster than before and I've had her up to 140 kmh at WOT briefly and it was still pulling, not to mention it sounds heaps better too :minigun: I can now comfortably cruise on the highway at 110 with less throttle. Also change the spark plugs to CR7E and use 95 or 98 octane fuel
