Definitely read and learn the book.

I only just scraped through the theory side because I had plenty of old habits from riding dirt bikes unlicensed and fell on that experience to decide some of my answers. e.g. I answered that standing on the foot-pegs was the best way to see further ahead past a truck in front of you on a road, in fact the answer was to slow down and pull back.

You're allowed eight wrong questions out of about 32 (I think) - I got seven wrong.

Admittedly I kinda only scanned the book the night before though.

The practical is easier and they talk & walk you through that whole side of it.

They test you practically on some counter steering and impromptu braking, but only at 20km/h max. Plus some rides through corners. A slightly harder side of the practical is riding slowly - you have to ride through about 10-12 meter section and remain within in the lines, yet take at least 14 seconds (from memory, could be 12) or longer to get to the far end of it. It's just slipping the clutch and keeping focussed on something in the distance to stay upright and slow through that section.

It's pretty easy - perhaps the hardest bit is sitting on a CB250 ;)
