    It's fine guys :D

That bit of metal is there to prevent the chain from punching out the bottom of the cases in the event of chain failure. I've worked on many bikes and never seen a chain jump a crank gear tooth. And as I'm using a Kwak oem cam chain it's not gonna die on my watch :D

Plus what's my annual mileage gonna be on the bike, maybe 500 miles? It's more a bike for my wife, if she wants it and if she passes her test, if not I will use it, but at 6ft tall and 110kg I'm a bit on the big size for it and would rather use my zxr400 with the 444cc overbore FCR engine I'm creating for it.

As per Andys quote, i did get rid of all that silicone (previous owner cowboys)
In doing stuff with the clutch recently, i found a piece of silicone gasket that was probably 7cm long stuck on the side wall of the casing...

Now im worried that there's already stuff in the sump/engine

Is it just a case if pulling off the sump cover and having a look/cleanout?
Guessing its like a car sump just whack out a few bolts?

Oil filter is already new, oil is drained to be replaced (local independent bike shop out 15W50 in it apparently according to a receipt from last year)

Pulling the sump may or may not be easy, you might have to fully remove the exhaust to access all the bolts. But yes, pull the sump and check the pickup screen. Clean all the shmoo out of the sump while you are at it.

Ok, is there meant to be a seal or sealant where the casing can be split?

Threebond 1215B is what I used on my FZR250 cases. There are generally no gaskets for crank case halves.

If the cases have never been apart you probably won't see any excess sealant as the factories knew what they were doing during assembly.

No, leave it alone. The bits that squish out the side don't do anything. It's best not to disturb it unless you're splitting the cases and will be resealing them.

Can you take a photo from a bit further away. I don't think that area is the sealing surface but need a better view to confirm.
