Hey, Curious to know what people had to do to get the stock indicators upgraded to LEDs - Stock indicator relay seem to double as a side stand switch so its not as simple as just replacing the relay. Curious to know how people gone about sorting this? btw. If theres a simple straight forward way to remove the side stand switch completely, then I am all for it.

Or you can just instal resistors on each indicator to increase the load so the flasher thinks it is a normal globe... easy to do.

Thanks - all worked out - led indicators on its way, bought that cheap relay for $1 on fleabay, fully understand how to go about the stock relay combo adding the new. Only outstanding thing is this though... - I am trying to find a pair of indicator fork mount clamps that works on 37mm fork legs (similar to the pic) = Only ones I found are for either 39mm or 41mm forks legs. Anyone come across this style that would fit 37mm fork legs?
Could use a strip of rubber or even gasket paper to make up the difference in size if you get the 39mm fork clamp's
I thought of doing something like this, but then again - it wont look nice - Its meant to sit snug up against the leg - if the rubber or whatever is narrower than the outside of the clamp it would look funny (almost as if wasnt clamped down properly) if the rubber is larger then that would look just as bad - even having it cut to exact size - not sold on the idea - but if I cant source what I need perhaps I revisit this idea For now Id like to get a set for thee 37mm legs - do it properly - do it once

nah. the whole idea of doing this is to get rid of the big ugly footprint of stock indicators and mounts - hence chasing something that is small and still look good
How about running a short bracket off the lower tripple clamp bolt, and bolt the led's to that? Drill out one of the hole's to suit the tripple clamp bolt and bolt the led through the other hole

Ordered one of this relay from fleabay, but while waiting I just wanted to test out the led indicators I just received (making sure they worked), and interestingly enough, with the stock relay in place, the front stock indicator (globe) and the new rear LED temporary fitted worked just fine - flashes same cycle both front and rear - Thought that was a bit weird - so perhaps I dont need to add a special relay after all...? But then again, I havent tested it with LED's both front and rear. I read that the flash rate should be between 60 - 120 BPM - 120 BPM seem close to what I got with this mixed setup - perhaps things changes when I hook up both? - We'll see - still trying to chase up some nice brackets to use on the front end for now though
While you have 1 standard globe each side it will flash as it should with the led’s fitted up. The standard glove has enough load for the relay to run normally. With only LED’s the system thinks there is a failed globe and flashes much faster. The LED only relay takes into account the very low power of the LED and works normally. The problem I've found doing LED indicators is the dash light. The way they work (usually) is to find earth through the opposite side indicators. It is not enough current to activate a standard 21w bulb, but when you put 4 LEDs on then I lights up all 4 indicators. If the wiring is different, then you might be fine. If not, then you have an issue. The resistors solution fixes both problems, but wait and see what you new unit does to fix the issue, first.
hm, Never thought of the dash - thanks for pointing that one out - would save me a bit of head scratching in the even it doesnt do what I expect once the leds goes on
The main issue with the dash is if you only have one idiot light for the indicators... there is a modification to make sure it all works... I have it somewhere on my computer... I will try to find it later tonight and upload it for you... I think I might even have posted it here before... Ok, The vlc Intruder have one dash light per indicator pair (left & right) - so perhaps it will work without any mods - good to know though
It should as long as you have an LED Relay... otherwise there wont be enough load from the LED's and it will flash super fast...
