So... was wondering what people's experiences are with different tyre widths/aspect rations and their interchangeability on rims. The honda front tyre is 100/80-17 and I have a new one from what is left of the bandit which is 110/70-17. The honda one is a bit perished and to be honest borderline in terms of its tread so I figure I'd give the new owner joy by replacing the tyre. I'm also cheap so the fact I have one lying around to fit the width of the rim is rather convenient... I've always just replaced "like for like" with tyres, so whatever was on the bike when I got it I've just kept to the same size. Can anyone suggest if the above change would have any issues and whether they've moved through tyre sizes and what real affect a change like this woul dhave? I get the fact the bandit tyre will get a bit more road traction due to the fact it's wider, more what difference (if anything noticable) the aspect ratio would have. I also stole the below from michelin so for reference:
If it were a car tyre, that would be fine, but a bike is a little different. Measure the rim width at the bead of the rim it came off and the bike it's going on, if they're different, don't do use it.
