I've been a bit slack organising my 40th birthday party (my birthday is Wednesday, too close to Christmas) and figured I'd stretch it over 40 days. Why? Because I'll miss some with the late notice, so it can be an excuse for getting together over the next month, but that way I can include a track day on Saturday Feb 6! I like Morgan Park, haven't ridden Lakeside but was warned against it, so it was Queensland Raceway at Ipswich. Not a fan of the track, the paperclip layout seems a bit simple, but I will get plenty of braking and right turn practice! (I looked at a double-header: Friday night at QR on the 29th, Saturday at Morgan Park on the 30th, but not at $160 for the night ride - that's a full weekday price).
So, if anyone wants an excuse for a track day in Brisbane, how about this? I'm taking my ZX-6R, and hope to have the CBR 400 and ZXR 250 (the return of Buzz Lightyear) up and going, too - so we'll see what I end up riding (or finishing).

Good luck Shane, I hope you have a really enjoyable day and go home in one piece.
Because my birthday is in early December I was always stuck in a harvester for long hours in heat and dust until I retired. Don't miss it yet.

Thanks. Yeah, my birthday was frequently on the road as a kid, though one year we were home for it, but we were crunching sheep and my birthday was all but forgotten. I would have thought harvest time was a joyous relief of your work completed, but in December heat and dust I could understand it being unpleasant.

I suppose your recovery hasn't progressed enough to venture out for a track day, yet?

I hope you can, too. Sorry I can't be there to even support you. Maybe you try talking a certain someone into pit crewing for you - might inspire him to a hobby you can share....

Well, that was a shedload of fun , I did 6 sessions , and felt I was faster and more confident each session. After each session we headed into a room and had some time with 2 coaches who were helping us to get the most out of the day

I’m embarrassed to say that the bike prep was fairly limited , but she ran like a top .
Big thanks to @James Mclaren for lending me his bike.

time to buy another track bike , because that was wicked fun , must buy new boots , mine are literally falling apart

Shane throws the best 40th birthday parties , even if he doesn’t show up.

    Chris

If I lived closer, it would be in my budget to do track days about monthly! The RS125 Aprilia at Morgan Park was fun, just a bit small (cramped) for me. Not sure I am really brave enough for the 600 or bigger bikes - especially given how poorly I bounce in my old age.

Glad you enjoyed it, even if I missed out, glad I twisted your arm.

I like the idea of bike and parts availability of the Honda .... be great to have all of the inline 4 250s there at once though

How strict is the scrutineering for their track days?

Did James' bike have slicks ?
