My rebuilt ZZR would be a better bike for your back.
Having sat on Frankster's ZXR and my MC-19 they are both within a mm of being the same.

I was thinking the same. Why not look at at 2010 model VTR250. Nice upright riding position, nimble with plenty of low grunt and no carby‘s to worry about

There are a few on Gumtree.. ranging between $2500 to $4K depending on age and condition.. 2006 and up are nice bikes.. the EFI (2010 and up I think) are a little more expensive.
I guess it depends on your budget and what you are expecting.. I would have thought you would go for a less complicated bike so you had more $$ to get the R6 back to where you want it.

I wasnt that impressed with the early VTR's. Rear head overheating issues and no Tacho on the instruments. 2005 up is the better buy TBH.

AS for the BMW.. if it is only to be a Commuter, as long as it is comfortable does it make a lot of difference? Something like that you could easily keep even when you get your full License.. that way you are not tootling around in traffic in the R6..it can be used for weekend runs.. just to clear the cobwebs :)

I had an 01 vtr250, I thought it was great. Mine had no issues after getting it registered, and it was a repaired write-off with a bunch of k's and had been neglected. I wouldn't pay $2k, because I'm cheap, but that looks decent.

Or you could get a ninja 250, they're a dime-a-dozen. $800-1500 depending upon the condition. Parts are plentiful. Same with the GS500 (I wouldn't pay much for those, either). But if Murdo is offer to sell you his zzr, I'd take a serious look at that!

What about a ninja 300, less aggressive than the 4 pot screamers and now that the 400 is out, the prices are dropping

I've had a spada, too. I'd go the vtr over a spada: too many gears and the bars are lower, so you might prefer a vtr stance. If you're keen on 4 pots, there was a zeal for $500 and an older bandit for $500. They are around for that sort of money. But I'm over carbies at the moment, so I have even considered cbf250 single-cylinder bikes. We are definitely spoilt for choice.
