    Hi All,

Just swapping the ZXR250C engine in my drag bike with a ZXR250A engine. Loom is from a C model, so TCI plugs a little different. I no longer have an A model, so I don't want to have to source an A model loom to get the bike to run. Can someone help me with "mapping" the C loom wires to the A TCI please. I will have one wire left over which I believe is the side stand switch, so can someone tell me how to "fool" the C loom into thinking the side stand is up?

I think my Coil wires (Black wire & Green wire) are around the wrong way, but the bike runs, so can anyone explain that for me. Have I just accidentally plugged the connectors into the corresponding coils on the bike?

    Thanks

I don't know what model this diagram is from but
The sidestand, neutral and cutout switch all switch ground, so if it works with nothing connected you are good and vice versa connect to ground. At least that is my best guess.

That's from a ZXR250C Blair. There are no wiring diagrams for the ZXR250A anywhere. The A model plug is missing one connector, which I think is for the Side Stand, but cannot be sure.

Im currently adding some elctrickty tech to my bike, also without a wiring diagram. Im using a pin, alligator clips and DMM to find out what go's to wot..just stick the pin gently into the wire set the dmm to ohm and make a noise and start probing

    hey Frank

Are you using a stock harness or a custom one ?

if I was to take the switch out of the equation, I would locate on the loom where the side stand plug connects to it and just simply plug the G/BK into the BK/Y wires effectively bridging the connection, one should be M and one FM. This would keep the other features working on the green wire.

the pinouts are completely different between the two. pink wire is the speed limiter. red is ignition

Thanks Tony. That's what I was afraid of, but your pics give me a fighting chance as I'm guessing the other coloured wires are going/coming from similar places on the A as they would be on the C.

Would you mind confirming (when you can) that the Yellow and Black/White wires are coming from the pickups?

    Thanks again

Yep those pairs are the pickup wires . seems they follow a bit of a pattern with all the wires being grouped together

Pink wire may be the speed limiting circuit.

That's all the advice I can offer as I have no experience with A models.

Yes, it's a shame we can't get an A model wiring schematic, but at least I can have a crack now. Pink must be speed limiter on both A and C. The C wiring schematic shows the pink going to the connector and then nothing out the other end. I'd be keen to see if @Linkin has a pink wire on his Malaysian model ZXR250C. He was running a Balius TCI before he upgraded to a de-restricted aftermarket CDI. Thanks again Tony (& all). Cheers Frank

Eff it, I'm going to buy one. Wiring diagrams are pretty universal and I can always ask a Japanese person or @Joker to help.

Most of them look like parts manuals. Did you see a Service Manual in there somewhere?

Thanks Wozza. My wife had a GSXR250 and it's service manual was in Japanese. I could follow it enough to do basic maintenance. A Japanese ZXR250A manual is better than using the English ZXR250C manual IMHO.
