    Greetings

I am working on my mums old Bandit the bike had been sitting for over 10 years (being in Zambia Spares were an Issue)

I brought new sparkplugs and a full carb kit (there was white guk inside and our fuel is bad in general)
but the Rubber boots were like very hard plastic and I could not put them back on, Convinced my brother to help with it and we managed together, unfortunately the original battery was missing and my old car battery was not holding power tried jump starting from my work bike (Honda 150L) but there was no luck but spark was there, we were putting bits of fuel directly into the intake just wanted a splutter, my brother had to go,

So the next weekend I borrowed a Tractor battery (500CA) from work and the workshop manager suggested a bit of oil or better WD40 (its fairly flammable into the intake to help seal, So I sprayed some into the valve and even removed the Sparkplugs and sprayed some in there, and now I had a fuel system, small heart attack with a fuel leak, but it turned out to be the bowl being loose, so I checked each one to see if there was fuel and there was, continued to try, tested spark and it was not there!? tested the Resistance on both Coils both were in range the right one was on the edge of the limit, there was 12V coming to the coil, was fiddling with the side-stand/neutral switch Diod and I heard a click

hmmm tried cranking it spluttered :O turned it around and it continued to try and splutter alternating between the throttle and the choke (which is very stiff and can't use the cable but i have a new one just have not put it in) and it eventually started (recorded this and my reaction) it idled High (rev counter not working and took a while to comedown and smoked, but I was able to rev through (watching the plastic part move was so strange) and even started no problems (still idled high) Checked voltage on the battery 12.58. (not sure its charging)

The next day it started but stopped so thought the fuel had evaporated over night, got a bit more but now nothing, checked and again No spark:confused: tried messing with Stand Diod again but nothing, more testing Coils still ok, but I checked the pulse generator, and there was no resistance and no Continuity tried cranking a bit and nothing still
    Pulse Gen Connector.jpg
Opened the side cover for the PG, there seamed to have been a bit of moister in it at some point, but still tested the cables for continuity from the point to the clip both lines fine and no crossing the little rubber where it enters the engine cover was healthy, still no resistance or continuity directly on the contacts of the PG between the Purple and brown cables, removed it off the metal plate and sanded it (and the little magnet between them) hoping it was a contact issue but no luck,

So here I am, So my thought is I need a new PG but the ones I have found (on Megazip where I got my Carb-kit and sparkplugs) but it seams to be the little black part and the plate is that true?Is there a better place? the only other places I have found sell the one for the 400 and it always looks different, or am I just an idiot and is my CDI the problem (alot of bandit threads seam to point to that being an issue) but the fact that I have no Cont and no resistance makes me suspect the Pulse gen,
I was using this http://www.synapse.ne.jp/s-hara/bandit/ban-spece.html site for the specs
    :help:

Ok So update so far, Taken the CDI off going to get it worked on (by someone alot more Competent then me just have to find a way of getting it to him 128KM away lol),

But while I was working on all this I came to the conclusion the frame/chassis and carbs are from a GSF400 (the book even says 400cc) but a previous owner changed the engine (reason unknown) to a 250cc (according to the engine imprint) and cause of this has confused me for parts, but I don't know if its a good Idea to keep these carbs on it feels like it has a dead spot (when it runs)
