I've got a suzuki across 250 Can someone please enlighten me to how the fuel system works. How does the reserve tank turn on and help me identify the fuel light not turning on problem.

from memory there are 2 sensors in the tank and they are accessible behind the petcock, the first sensor controls low fuel warning which kicks in a half the tanks volume being gone and shows with an amber light on the dash, the 2nd sensor controls the "reserve or if your a long way from a petrol station the "OH **** light" with a red light on the dash, I'd check they are connected to the loom first. You should be able to see the 2 sets of wires coming out of the bottom of the tank behind the petcock on the right hand side.

Theres no actual "reserve tank" .... just sensors as Chris explained to let u know where u are at fuel wise.
The other system used is (like in the FZR) a set of 2 filters and 2 outlets so that when the fuel reaches a certain level it wont come thru 1 filter so u have to switch the petcock to "reserve" for it to run out the low filter.

Heres the Across setup ..... 12 & 13 ..... definately check the wiring and check the globes and dirty connectors
