Summer heat has been cruel here this year with many days around 40 Degrees. I decided I needed to get out of town before the bloody cow music festival got going, so packed a few things in my saddle bags, checked over the Royal Enfield 500 and left for my daughters place on the coast.
Stopped in Uralla at the favourite coffee shop, lunch at Ebor and turned right down the Dorrigo mountain to take some bits from one of my restorations to the re-chromers in Coffs Harbour. Stayed the night in Grafton. Next day to Casino, Lismore and to my daughters for seven relaxing days by the beach and pool.
Decided to return home via the tablelands as the height would be cooler riding, arriving home late afternoon. I was travelling at what felt a comfortable speed of between 95 to 105Km/h and was surprised at the economy I gained. Worst of 30Km/Lt (84mpg) to best of 33.5Km/Lt (94.3mpg), and this was without trying for economy. Total trip of 1,142Km for $46.55 of premium 95 (average of $1.53Lt). I think I might do more travelling on the Enfield as it didn't miss a beat and with the mods I've done to suit me is comfortable for long rides. :)

Great weather (although hot), good roads with little traffic and great economy. What a way to travel our beaut country.

I can't blame you for wanting to escape... I was working at Centrepoint every single day of the festival. Hard work, but the wallet was thankful afterwards.

See us cellar dwellars don't mind summer. We have a 38 degree day, it rains then goes away for a couple of weeks.

22 degree sunny days all around...

    Just the winter really sucks.

23?! Luxury! We dreamed of 23... (Monty Python)
Barely call that uncomfortable. The humidity here is very high, the refrigerated trucks make sizable puddles of condensation when doing deliveries. At least it isn't 40+ and 90%+ humidity like the Pilbara Coast - I have 2 brothers over.

it's -16*c here today and we had a massive ice storm last week that left 134,000 homes in my Province without power!

Great looking ride, I must do it one day

Wait, I just saw your fuel economy figures. That's impressive! I get 22km/l combined and highway.

    I am impressed too! :)
Not bad for an engine designed in the 1930's (two valve pushrod engine) with only the electronic injection and ignition added.
