So now a story about how this forum brings good people together it’s a view to picking up hi bikes on his trip down

@ShaneP purchased 2 bikes over the past 2 months and organised a trials ride and track day weekend.

Shane had to pick up one of his bikes on the way down to Brisbane from rocky and it turns out he got scammed, so no track bike , the other trials bike was picked up by his brother so all good there

So yesterday Shane came to see me and was going to cancel his track day due to no bike , I messaged @James Mclaren and he has kindly offered his mc22 to Shane for his trackday. I popped down and picked it up today , fitted the fairings back on and fitted a spare battery, checked the oil and coolant , quick test ride … good to go

how cool is this community when like minded people offer up their race bike to members

Shamed by Kiffsta’s and others’ clean work benches, I decided it was time for a clean up. Took the XT outside, gave it a quick degrease, then returned it to the (now clean) stand for a bit more attention. Fitted two new chain guide rollers. Still need to renew the chain slider if I can find one. Unfortunately it seems I need to remove the swingarm to put on a new one. Who thinks that’s good design?( Note Fresh cup of coffee.)
Also fitted a rear ‘fender extender’ to the Z900 RS. Arrived yesterday, Just 10 days from China.

@kiffsta beat me to the story (and probably told it better), but a massive shout out to @James Mclaren for lending the bike! A little extra to the bike community story, a couple of other people (who don't know me at all but one the seller), tried to chase up the seller for me! The generosity of such people is quite humbling - especially James!

No, it is tied into the corner of the trailer at the moment with 2-stroke fuel. But I did need it when I was coming home from that trip. Sad to see buzz go, but it was doing a slow death in my possession. At least now there's a chance of it living out giving life to other bikes

I have another roller to get to @kiffsta so there could be some forks.

Looks like a Honda... I was thinking more like: images (12).jpeg

Well, I started attacking the trials bike. The more I looked, the more I saw. The seller warned me the tyres were original, 30 years old, so I had bought new ones (so far I've replaced the front). The carby was not only loose on the airbox end, it was a Mikuni, instead of Del Toro.. The air filter is perished, the intake rubbers cracked. The chain isn't through the guide and the slider seems to missing the bottom part. There seems to have been no coolant in the bike, which is very worrisome because these have a reputation for corroding the water jacket - doesn't seem to have made them oil milky or filled the case. Wiring needs some riding up, the fan is constant on with a bypass loop instead of being connected to the thermal switch. Rear brake needs a rebuild, forks are leading/have leaked and oiled the brakes. The rear suspension has a lot of play, especially where the bolt is loose. Fuel tap leaks. Engine sounds noisy and vibrates - he had the engine rebuild 20-odd years ago. Steering seems bent

So, how far do I go? Front and rear suspension, brakes and a basic air filter might be all she gets for now. And the rear tyre, of course. Then there's the YZ and CBR to get done and maybe sold

A good match for the bentwood chairs in the background. That is a classic! Pillions would need to protect the Jatzies on rough roads.

Cleaned the header pipes on the Z after a run to the Qld / NSW border at Mt Lindesay this morning. Green light for Qlders to pass into NSW, but we are still keeping the cockroaches out. Fine weather after a fortnight of storms. Country looked fantastic. So good to have no traffic on the Mt Lindesay range, and no silly speed restrictions like on Mt Tamborine and Mt Glorious roads. 940208CB-E657-448B-A94D-30287F2FA236.jpeg 4D92C362-699B-4487-A07F-EB64513403E2.jpeg
