I have become a bit of a 2 stroke fan of late with a pair of NSR's, I have been googling like mad looking for info a suppliers and I ended up finding a business in Cairns who specialise in 2 strokes.

Even better they offer a kit to take an Aprilia RS250 from a 250cc to 500cc monster.

I love this quote, pretty wild power !!!!

In race trim, the RS500GP weighs no more than 115kg wet, and can produce 130HP, and 65lb.ft of torque - a figure that easily eclipses Supersport 600s. Even in road trim, this is a bike that can not only trounce the likes of GSX-R1000s in the twisties, but also show them a clean pair of heels on the straights

For more info, check out http://www.twostrokeshop.com/Aprilia_RS500_2008.htm

    Cheers

    Chris

    Hey Chris
What a find, have spent much time perusing this site and keep getting the NEED FOR SPEED. Some amazing figures and performance data, if only the purse string went that far.
Think the 2 stroker fans will be fascinated by how far these engines can be taken, I was .

I would love to get an RG 500 engine in my Aprilia chasiss. The 4 cylinder square 4 I think would be better.

    Hey Mudguts

that an awesome looking bike, I agree with the RG option, it seems the 2 stroke shop had major issues with the 500cc kit and there are lots of unhappy punters out there

Well, mmm. I have had that dream too. Thus is what I came up with. Rgv frame(cause I had one) aprillia Rs Swingarm, 1 rg 500 bottom end,4 Rgv cylinders, some adaptor plates, some longer conrods(to make up for the
thickness of the adaptor plates) put in big bowl.stir until thoroughly mixed. Walla

That's an awesome piece of work right there - you've got my full and undivided attention and I really want to see the end result

BTW what rod length did you go to?

    peace out

Funnily enough,or by good luck, we needed rods longer by the same thickness as the adaptor plates. Rgv are perfect.
I am a bit of a slacker. This project has been put to the back of the shed for the moment. We have a 7 month old and time just isn't there at the mo.I will get to it. I promise. I have even been promised a set of fairings that were on the number 34 xr89 when Kevin raced it in Australia. They will be on loan, but it's all incentive.
Btw,from our research 140 hp is a soft tune for this set up. Utube it and you can see one on the dyno go 160+

the spacer plates give you a better transition to the RGV transfers and allow a longer rod - double score

A soft tune @ 140 will last a bit longer for a road bike - whats the usual point of failure on the RGB bottom ends - cranks?
I recall reading second gear lets go easily and clutches wear fast

I'm no expert on what gives. The uk guys recommend a stronger gearbox. They are way xpensive. I'm saving up

They're Nova transmissions and YUP very expensive.

Very interested to see this evolve as I've read the chronicles of others tuning stock barrels and struggling for 130HP

Now it occurs to me yours is a master stroke using RGV barrels, why didn't someone else think of that

Somebody else did. I read about it on the web.the power valves and timing will controlled by a zeeltronic ignition.i have one of these on my hot rgv and they give good results.
I have the nova on my to buy on my next windfall list.

hi guys, well I have actually been playing with this. I have the engine cradle in place but we found a broken mount at the rear of the case. I stripped the cases and had the rear mount welded and then vaquablasted the case. I am waiting for some new bearings to turn up to reassemble the engine. I have boughta few tasty bits for it. I'll take some pics tonight.
