Not sure, but it could rob you of some performance. More air means more power. Zoommmmmm...

    AIR SCOOPS

I HAVE RUN MY 2KR EXUP, 89 MODEL WITHOUT SIDE FAIRINGS AND ALL WAS WELL,WITH ENGINE REDLINING,I THINK THE FAIRING SCOOPS ARE MORE FOR SHOW, THERE IS AN AIR SCOOP ON TOP OF THE AIRBOX,UNDER THE DUMMY PETROL TANK COVER.

Nope, sorry. Not RAM AIR. It does have FAI = Fresh Air Intake.

Besides, the positive effects of RAM Air don't really start to appear until around 100 mph.

Well it was an incite to modern ram-air.
Like many bikes of that era those pipes are just for show.

It is not all show, as they do bring fresh cool air to the area under the tank where the air filter intake is located. Whether that makes a lot of difference is debatable, but as Tim mentioned, it would only be a minor effect at great speed.
