Hey Tomo, first up welcome to the site and congrats on obtaining your licence. I think that your narration of the day in question is excellent and we need to hear more about these in the future. Obviously your attitude was positive without holding out too many expectations, that I think is the key. Also getting instructors who make you welcome and put you at ease certainly assist in making the day more pleasurable. Again, well done and we look forward to seeing and hearing from you on the site, and remember to enjoy the ride
                                                        Cheers  Phil

    Hy Tom

Congrats on passing, my Q-ride was a similar expereince to you, but I did mine one on one with the trainer instead of a group. As I hadnt ridden previously, I attended 5 x 2 hour  lessons on a private track until I was confident I could pass all the practical tests, I seem to struggle with the emergency stop and kept leaving big black lines along the track :) , in the end though I nailed it. I actually did a few of my lessons in the rain, which helped me out alot about getting some confidence in the wet.

In my opinion, Q-ride may want to include a section on night riding as on my 2nd ride out after I passed my license,  I had to come home when it was pitch black and my CBR250RR  headlights were average at best and the road had no street lights and speed limit was 80kph,  it was quite a daunting experience at first.

Once again, well done mate on passing your test,  we will hopefully get out for a ride soon.

    Cheers

    Chris

The Q ride sounds like a much better system than what we have in NSW.

You actually get to ride on the road with an instructor and are doing the types of handling exercises we don't get to do until we have had had our "L"'s for at least 3 months and survived it.

So far I haven't been for the pre "P" course I am booked in for it  soon.

The pre "L" course was over 2 days of 4hrs each.

Day one was a little theory then onto a bike to be pushed to get an idea of riding then a break some more theory and out onto a oval track for some practical riding.

Day 2 was started with more theory before getting onto the bikes and after a warm up we reviewed day ones lessons before doing some more advanced lessons. Still on the oval track but we had a short cut and had to merge.

A review of the pre ride check followed the break and we did some normal stops and some emergency stops. Back to the class room to look at hazard avoidance and how to corner before getting our certificate to get your "L" licence for the RTA after you pass there multiple guess test on there computer. You can goto the NSW RTA website and do a practice test if you are interested in what it involves.

Of course you pay for the pre "L" course then pay to do the test at the RTA and finally you pay for your licence

They don't miss out on screwing you!!!

After I do my "P" course I will put up another post on it.
