Ok, I do have a bare cylinder head... pic below.
Let me know if you are interested.
You will need to get the valve seats re-cut but at least it isnt cracked.

Pulled the second head and would you believe the piston and valves were black and heavily crusted. Another running rich? Hahah love it!

Any who, went to a see a fella about machining etc (thanks for recommenation my67xr the guy was legend) and got everything sorted.

Using the head and barrel off second parts bike, boring out to receive the oversize piston from my bike + valve job and bead blast etc.

Just gotta get some rings and she'll be right.

Just saw this sorry! The head off my parts bike seemed to be the goods so I'll go with that, thanks for the offer!

All good. I forgot you had the parts bike.
That turned out to be a good purchase.

Yes I'm very thankful to have it. Especially when I noticed the cracks in the head!

New rings ordered and now just playing the waiting game haha

Make sure you keep the cam caps with each head and the same positions. Use some marking paint or something to ensure they don’t get mixed up as they are match machined from the factory.

Yeah he did acknowledge when I mentioned who sent me. Got him while he was having a coffee out front actually and ended up shooting the **** with him and his mate. Chatted about Finke and stories about school when I mentioned I was a teacher. Good stuff.

Rings are coming from Yamaha dealer I forgot to ask him haha he tried looking for a piston but to no avail.

Ahh good tip on cam caps. I was going to swap the cam shafts and caps over to the new head as they seemed to be better condition. Will just swap the shafts.

12 week wait on rings, bugger!

I've been trying to find rings anywhere, been finding lots of similar part numbers bar the first couple of letter/numbers. I though those designated the model of bike but the numbers after are the actual part numbers?

    I'm after 30X-11610-20-00

But found 50M-11610-20-00.. wonder if that'll work..

They wont be any cheaper through Impex though.. that price is A$92 and then add on freight.. The local Yamaha price is just over $100 so no real gain there.. As long as there is stock in Australia of course... lol

Just got off the phone to Yamaha and they don't have any, 12 week freight from Japan! Found some on boats too but they aren't doing any international orders.

    Sad times!

I ended up going with Blair, the guy who is doing the work was in the same boat as me. Cheers @maelstrom !

Also I got access to the oil pump gears, the first thing I actually set out to fix on the bike haha

I also popped the gear selector lever when moving the motor, didn't clap eyes on how it originally sat but just fully meshed up the teeth, surely that's it?

Got the valves cleaned up and cylinder bored out for the 2nd oversize piston.

Gotta clean it up, paint strip and then get it blasted. Assemble it when the new rings get here then it will all be smooth sailing after that, right? Haha

I really hope that that isnt the barrel that has been bored to suit your piston.... there are some nasty looking marks in that barrel that look very much like rust pitting that hasnt come out with boring.. doesnt look like it has been honed too well either from the picture.
Lets just hope it is a poor photo..

Hmmm maybe your version of schmicko and mine are different... when I blow up your picture I see a couple of areas where that bore isnt right... maybe you have lint etc in there but they seem to be similar to marks that show in the barrel before it was bored... but.. in the end it is your motor.
