One single PPSR Certificate will replace all the current REVS and VCheck Certificates.

What does this mean ?/ Well, PPRS replaces Revs so when buying a bike, you can do a PPSR check to verify if its stolen, on the written off vehicle register, has money owing etc, I just did on one a bike I was trying to buy through www.autocheck.com.au and it cost me $15

    Worth doing, heck yeah

REVS is gone, PPSR has replaced it.

    Chris

From Monday January 30 2012, there will be one National Personal Properties Securities law and one National Personal Properties Security Register (PPSR). Consequently a number of existing Government Security Registers including the current State based REVs/VRS registers and VCheck Service will close.

The single PPSR Certificate will confirm:

    Vehicle description Information

    Vehicle encumbrance status

    Vehicle write-off status

    Vehicle stolen status

One single PPSR Certificate will offer a purchaser of a second-hand vehicle, a quick and easy way to obtain important vehicle information prior to purchase.  The release of this information to the general public and the motor vehicle industry allows the consumer to take a proactive role in the deterrence of vehicle theft and fraud and make a more informed decision about your purchase.

The PPSR Certificate enables the purchaser to verify if the vehicle they are purchasing has a stolen status recorded against it. The PPSR Certificate will also display if there is a repairable or statutory write off recorded.

The PPSR Certificate may also detail the type of damage sustained (eg. Fire, water damage), plus the date and state where the vehicle was written off.

By purchasing a clear PPSR Certificate (formerly known as a Security Interest Certificate, Vehicle Security Register Certificate, VSR or Clear Title Certificates) on the day you are purchasing a Used Car, Truck, Caravan, Campervan, Trailer, Bus, Motor Cycle, Boat, or a Jetski you are protected against repossession.

PPSR Certificates are available for registered vehicles Australia wide.

You mean now we have to pay for the full report when we used to get the FREE vicroads vehicle check?

Yes, of course that's a huge improvement over previous styles.
Excuse me, I'll be outside banging my head on something harder than my head untill the pain goes away.

Be careful with the service provider you use.  The one i used earlier this year charged me for a service they didn't provide to me at the time of purchase.  Then they tried to argue that they don't offer that service when it is clearly printed as an option on their website.....  Anyways at least i got my $ back.

im a car sales man and PPSR is the best use.

    1 good example.
not to sure about other sites but ppsr will pic up records from any state
we traded a car the was a repairable write off in VIC and it was a NSW vehicle.
other checks wont tell you if the bike or cars has been in a crash in other states.

its worth while sticking to ppsr due to it being changed so you can check its complete background in any state in australia.

you need to read it to understand it but if thre is any money oweing on the bike it will be listed as a '' registration ''. so if it says '' no registrations exist for this vehicle, it is ok.
it will have a section as vehicle data witch will tell u if it is a repairable write off or stolen.

just read the whole 2 pages and you should understand.

    Hey Guys,

I actually work for a company that is a service provider (this will remain unamed) for PPSR to law firms and have painfully spent the last 2 years since it was approved carrying out seminars on it.

1st point. What is PPSR? Put simply its a register for recording any loans or security agreements not on land. This includes all personal loans, company arrangements, leasing agreements. The register has replaced REVS and about 80 other registers nationally.

2 - cost - a PPSR search on any collateral is $3.70 via the government direct (ppsr.gov.au) With the search certificate you get NEVDIS details including checking of the Written Off Vehicle Register.

3 - Service providers, there are a lot out there, there is no "broker" model for PPSR so they're getting the same info you will from the government site and tacking on ectra info from other government and private databases, Vcheck is a good example of this by Veda.

If anyone wants to know more or has issues trying to get clear certificate send me a PM and I'm more than happy to help out.
