Hey Mark, that looks great, what paint did you use ? I need to do my garage soon and am looking at using this : http://www.bunnings.com.au/dy-mark-8l-epoxy-clear-garage-floor-coating-kit_p1580413 thanks Chris
I used Hychem SF25. It is a low fume, water cleanup two part epoxy. We worked out the best ratio for roller was 750ml from the tin with 2,250ml hardener and 1,250 water. That gave enough for about 25 square metres a coat. First coat soaks in and so goes on thin. Used Bunnings Hydrochloric acid at 10 to 1 first to etch the concrete. We did two goes at etching to be sure. The Bunnings guy said he used an oil based two part epoxy on his floor and it stank the place out for weeks. He said if he did it again he would use water based.
I did my new shed extension last weekend with the Bunnings epoxy in slate grey with the blue/white/black sprinkles and it looks tops.
I'm so sorry if I'm interrupting here, but this is exactly why I sought a forum like this in the first place. I wanted to ask about these things. I would prefer much more a solid garage instead of this thing, but i'm not so sure if i have enough space in my back yard So, if someone could explain would he consider these portable 'sheds' and why, it would be much appreciated. Btw, mboddy, your garage sure looks amazingly spacious Love it!
what is this thing?sheds come in all materials and sizes.i just put up a 3x2.8 garden shed to store bikes in and i know it is too small. steel prefabs are easy to assemble and cheaper than timber framing.also could be longer lasting.
Theres 2 things that decide what type of shed /garage you erect ..... money and space I had the space and concrete slab for a double garage but as people like me and risky are just old pensioners , we just dont have the funds ....... therefore its just an oversize garden shed. The other consideration is the local government rules/laws ..... my shed (4.5m x 3m ) just comes under the size that requires approval to erect and inspections etc.
Work bench stage 1 Where it will go ... The things u do when using tongue and groove flooring for a wall ......
I like the come along - no chance of that sucker letting go. I just knocked up some shelves for my ex in her garage. Good practice for the ones I'll be putting in mine. Given it's going to be a 2 car garage, I'm thinking of making up a work bench that folds flat against the wall. 15 Amp plug wouldn't go astray as well. It will be so nice to not have to scrub the dirt from my feet and go to the chiropractor after every time I've worked on something.
