hey all, just bought a FZR250, this is my second one I had one for my first road bike 10 years ago so wanted an old one back in the shed to admire and ride from time to time,

On the import plate it says it is a 1989 model, it has 2KR on the frame but from what I’ve found the 3LN started in 1989 ? And 2kr seems to stop at 88, could some help out with this identification please and also if possible I’d love a workshop manual pdf

    Welcome to the forum

You can get a Service and Part's manual here when you join up as a Premium Member, it only cost's $10
The manual's were only available in Japanese, but if you also download the FZR400 Service Manual a lot og it is basically the same

    I'm pretty sure that the 2KR FZR250's still have the same frame and component's etc as the later model's (2RF, 3HX1, 3HX2, 3HX3 ) up to 3/1989
When searching for part's i have never seen anything listed other than 2KR or 3LN part's.

Does it have exup? That will make it a 3HX1/3 - a 2KR with exup basically.

Hey guys cheers for the reply’s and welcomes

I think the thing that has confused me so much is that the import plate says 1989 but that’s also the year that the 3Ln came in. As far as I can understand is it’s an 89 model the last before they changed frame etc ?? Fairings are a bit cracked so going to order a new set soon if anyone has a good website that would be greatly appreciated I’ve seen the one on eBay from China so far.

    Thanks again fellas

FZRs are all grey imports anywhere in the world and were JDM only .. (Japanese domestic market )

Import plate is more a compliance plate the year it was brought into Australia

Check your engine number here (assuming its the original motor) and that will be your year

I have seen this chart but I thought it was the frame number that follows the 2kr, I’ll check the engine number in the morning and see what I can find,

    Cheers for the info

The last number's of the engine number should be the same as the last number's of the engine number,
unless the engine has been changed
