    I was hoping it would entirely fix my clunky/2-stage feeling on 3rd to 4th / 4th to 3rd shifting entirely. While it definitely has removed play in the shift shaft, and raised the quality of shifting up and down in all gears, the clunky/2 stage shift on 3rd to 4th and 4th the 3rd remains. It is consistently better now, though.

    I was experiencing was inconsistency. Sometimes it shifts perfectly as you would expect, sometimes not so great, and sometimes it feels very clunky and 2-stage. Of course, the more RPM's you're doing the better it feels in general... but... if I pin it in 3rd, it can sometimes take 2 or 3 attempts on the QS to get it to shift. Normal shifting is always fine, however. It is also less prevalent when cold and more prevalent when warm/hot.

    I suspect I have done something to the gearbox at some point to cause trouble (it did miss a 3rd to 4th shift on the QS early in ownership, but I put it down to a fluke), but I won't be pulling it apart until something fails at some point. I may investigate the clutch and selecting mechanisms at some point, which I hope will remedy the problem I'm having. I just hope any damage isn't in the gears, shift forks or drum at this point.

    Now while I probably could go and claim warranty, I really don't want the trouble and I need the bike daily. Plus, I now have an aftermarket tune and aftermarket up/down shifter (though this problem was happening long before that).

    It's a big job to do and parts are a nightmare with supply chain issues. If I am going to do it, I'll likely get the engagement dogs back cut at the same time (which probably means sending the gears to the US to get done)

    Yep did the Racetorx thing awhile back .... certainly improved shifting on the Daytona

    Interesting yours has a needle roller bearing .... mine was just a plastic (?) sleeve

    They may have decided to add a bag of grease as most of the numptys wernt using any
    The guy that makes them is on the facebook groups
    I know I kept telling guys to grease it before installation :commando:

    Bit like the steel plate kit that fixes a problem where the 80 Landcruisers crack at the panhard and frame ... 1 plate is welded between the frame and the steering box , so the original bolts are then too short for the steering box .... mine came back held on by a few threads .... after I informed the maker of the kits , he added a new set of longer bolts and new nylocs to his kits ...... I asked for a commission on future sales but he just laughed :D

    Yamaha FZR250 speed bike, Yamaha YZ/WR250F, Kawasaki ZX2R, Honda VTR250, DR350 (x 3.5), a couple of prototypes and whatever else.
    Some bikes had issues with the tube the selector forks slides along getting bent and not holding onto the dogs will enough. Keep an eye out for others making the complaint, might be worth getting the warranty recall done, even if you have to take the bus for the week.

    Trying to get my head around tyre choice for a YZF600r - takes 120/60 front 160/60 rear
    @Linkin - you've been through a few of the Pirellis, best/preferred choice?

    Due to where I seem to be looking the 120/60 front is a bit of a rarity

    I would like the Dunlop GPR-300 but they seem to be extinct unless I am mistaken...

    Pirelli, not much chose on those sites, you can get Rosso 2 (old design and they are currently made in china), Rosso 3 (wasn't impressed with longevity), or Angel GT 2 (not sporty enough for me).

    In all honesty Michelin is probably the better choice for that size. Road 5's are great, Road 6's are new and available. Dunlop Alpha 14 if you want to have fun and replace them every 6 months.

    I just checked whether or not a 120/70 will fit via the facebook group - it will fit under the front fender, I was eyeing off those Michelin 5's

    I can get Rosso 4's 120/70 front and 160/60 rear...

    I'm not overly fussed with wearing tyres out, it's grip to assist with brain <-> right wrist communications gotchas that is more important

    If you do fit a 120/70 you may want to raise the forks in the triples by about 10mm or so, if you feel that it has become sluggish to turn.

    120/60 profile height should be 72mm, 120/70 profile height should be 84mm
