I have been chasing an Across parts bike for a while as I have a heap of ppl chasing parts, so I made an offer on one on Gumtree and the seller accepted, it was a 90 mins drive to pick up the bike. The seller crashed his dirt bike and decided not to ride anymore, this sat for an year with him starting it every once and a while.

After getting it home, I gave it a quick wash to get the dust off, then I hooked the jumped leads up, she fired straight up and to be honest , this is the nicest sounding across that I have ever heard, the gauges read 32k and its an Aussie bike. The only real issues are that front wheel paint is massively faded and the front guard is not correct for this scheme.

I don't think I can part this out, its a really nice Across

Man ... that is too good to wreck... a nice tidy up... sort the paint for the front guard and flip it...

well, interesting discussion last night with my better half, I got home around 8pm after picking up the bike, I have it a quick wash to get the dust off, then started it up as per my previous post. Around 9:30pm, I took my good lady into the garage to show her my new bike , started it up and told her how much of a gem it was, I did say Its too good to part out and that I might try and sort a few issues and keep it. What came next was totally unexpected.

My wife asked if it was a collectable ? to which I replied no, not really, she then said why not part it out, there are plenty of good parts there Chris !!! You will make more money out of it if you part it. The conversation continued along the lines of .. this is going to be your job in less than 2 months, you can't emotional about these things , just strip it !!!

Anyone want any Across parts ?

Haha... words of wisdom I guess... it is just a shame to see a nice complete bike be parted out... still
    The BOSS has spoken :)

Have you broke it down yet? I wish people would offload before the rego runs out.
sell it as a complete running bike, make a quick profit, keep an Across on the road. Maximum profit may not be as good if it takes a long time to acquire? a fast profit can be better business than slow returns? If it is too hard to rego then it might be a different story? you have to store it until you sell all the bits?

There's only one thing you can do in the face of such logic, rational thinking and wisdom: ignore and do you whatever you want! Signed, Satan.

An all-too-common letter to me. I know the pain and sadness of wrecking a complete and working bike, it was more than I could bare. If I was on to it earlier, maybe we could have done a deal for my Across.

@rustguard pretty sure I got a couple of things from this one. Still makes me sad everytime this thread comes up since that bike was in a lot better condition than the one I got sold.
