Have a look on youtube, Ive seen similar mufflers on cb and gb 250 and they sound pretty quite...at 89$ they are going to be thin steal and cheaply made, so dont expect a long run out of them.....
I figured they would be built to a price, I've got to buy 2 and they said on the phone that means free delivery. I think the rusty mufflers that are on the bike at the moment are by the same company and they are too noisy for me - although they have no visible rust holes.
Ask em if they have removable baffles if so you can repack them with better fiberglass or stainless wrap... If not you can do what I did and add something like this to the header pipe make sure the od is of the correct size.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universa...t-Baffle-DB-Killer-Silencer-42mm/272672160209 very few after market pipes are adr approved, but you can ask them if they have any that may suit... Basically pre 85 is 100db at 3000ish rpm post 85 is 94db...
I finally got round to doing things on the bike this week, between work and getting over this lurgy/bad cold I haven't had the energy to do much up till now. Got some new tyres, well practically new, I got them at a good price. Secured the ignition switch and got the final fit right on the instruments/headlight bracket. I think I just need new mufflers, tidy up the headers and then give the blue slip a go. Finally got some soap and water and elbow grease on it today, I like the way it looks.
Have you got any Autosol Metal Life Saver you can try on the exhaust? I've used it on quite a few pipe's now and they come up very good, even rusty chrome pipe's look better
Thanks for that information, I will check that out. The header pipes will come up well I think, the muffler are just too noisy and I don't want that.
Mufflers fitted and rear brake refurbished, so that's it I think. I will just wait till the bank balance is a bit better for the next step - a blue slip. It has cost me approx. $790 so far, even including oils and cleaning stuff. Thanks Fred.
My little Honda has got it's BLUE SLIP. I'm very happy, it actually cruised through. I rode it to the inspection station with a declaration from them in my pocket and loved the ride. Thanks to everyone who has given info or encouragement. I honestly believe this bike would have been left to rust away, and that would have been a waste.
Yes thanks Fred. You saved me a lot of time. It would have been a stuff around for me to get another one I saw for sale.
The Honda is now fully registered, it's got a new identity "Lot Of Fun 67". Hopefully I'll get a couple of short rides in the next few days to make sure nothing falls off, that applies to both rider and bike! Also I hope to catch up with some of the people I have met on this site, see you on the road, with a bit of luck
Nice!! I envy you in Aus because of the choice and number of smaller vintage bikes that are available. I watch your listings and shake my head because here in Ontario there is very few offerings available. There are all kinds of bikes for sale, but they are 3 -4 years old, and the bulk of them are a larger displacement. I know for a fact we don't have that many museums that have squirreled away all the older 250's, and haven't as yet figured where they have all gone. Enjoy your bike, you've earned it.
