    Hey Bill

Alas Megelli have gone bust in Australia, in essence they were a British designed bike built in China, I believe now the Chinese own the entire company. The engines in the Megelli had an inherent design floor whereby the cases would crack near the starter motor rendering the engine useless.

The Australian distributor has gone bust and no-one else has stepped up to take over the brand, most bike shops would give you the run around as there were quality issues with the bike and now there is a lack of spares available. Maybe try some shops that specialise in Chinese dirt bikes, you may have better luck there in getting help.

    thanks

    Chris

    Welcome to the forum

All the engine need's to run is fuel, air, spark and compression, what are you having trouble with ?
    Is the engine a Zongshen ZS177FMM ?

bill, if the starter will not turn the motor the right hand side crankcase is broken inside on a idler gear and is a common problem. valve settings also are toooooo tight.factory set at 2 thou but needs to be 6 thou inlet and 10 thou exhast. crossfire dealers have parts or buy from zongshen in china. they do not have a good reputation and the chinese tyres are crap in the wet.what are the problems??????????

That is cheap for a complete engine.

This is going to sound unhelpful and negative but just get rid of it. That's all the info you need. Not worth playing with, because you'll fix one thing and end up playing with others. Save up a bit more and buy something decent or tinker with an older Japanese bike.

I admire people who persevere with these bikes and are positive about them but I'm a realist and junk is junk to me.

Good luck, sorry I can't offer any constructive help on getting it running.

airbox has a screwed on lid under the seat. has a foam filter. if lid left off you pick up half a horsepoer. tried it and seat of bum test did not notice the difference.

Sometimes saying what we are all thinking comes across as harsh, sometimes the truth takes bullets.

So owning one of these is very like owning an early bevel Ducati from new - or a Norton twin in the 80's..

It helps if you're a qualified engineer with a workshop.

I'd point out that it's probably worth tucking one away in secure dry storage as the survival rate will probably be low - and they'll soon be collectible.
If any had come to NZ i wouldn't mind having a look through, just cos it's something different.
