Looks a bit ugly ..

    G'day all,
    Underneath all the old grease and crud on my 1965 YDS 3 was an old patch of epoxy of some sort,no doubt covering a crack or hole about 50mm below the engine sprocket (I have more cleaning to do before I can remove the epoxy and see the damage) ..
    I'm thinking the worst here,but can welding be done on these crankcases ?

    Yes, certainly. Just needs to be clean with no greasy stuff on them.

    Thanks Murdo .. I can relax a bit now :) ..
    Here's a piccie taken once I removed all the old epoxy.. maybe something caught in the chain was what did the damage . Crankcase hole.JPG

    Easy as. Clean it out, build it up and smooth off. Job done.
