I use monthly payments with most insurances, as I tend to miss the renewal reminder and get slugged for the annual premium when I least expect it. .... And that hurts with a 4wd.

I have my house and Prado with Budget direct, bike with Swann and my business insurances with CUA. I thought of combining them for the discount, but even NRMA wouldn't match Budget's cover on the Prado, so I made a case of Corona off them!

Just need to be careful with budget Direct. Mate of mine wrote off his SS, had failed to tell them it had a set of extractors on it and took forever to sort out the payment.

I think u might find most, if not all companies will do the same ...its called "Duty of Disclosure"

    http://rac.com.au/Insurance/Motor-insurance/Motor-insurance-duty-of-disclosure.aspx

You cant expect them to pay out after the fact on something of large value..... " Oh I crashed my bike and I forgot to tell you I had gold plated wheels on it....they are only worth $5000 each to replace...is that ok? "

Very very true. In my case.. FAI didn't want to pay the agreed value they insured it for, when some moron took me out at a roundabout! The argued about bits and pieces, but had to pay in the end.

I will only insured agreed value. Will never do market value, and most insurance companies have a different opinion of what market value is to us!

    Hey Darren
Tend to agree with you there. A couple of years ago, I insured my beloved CBR1100 with insure my ride online.
The market value according to them was 11k, substantially more than I had paid. Rang them to clarify, was assured that this was the value?????? Who am I to argue. Perhaps it was because my bike was no longer in production:confused:

Yes definately !.... Im certainly not defending insurance companies as they will fight u all the way on any little thing at times..... but you (not u personally) have to watch the fine print stuff , and stick up for yourself if they want to argue. :thumb_ups:

Mate that's cool, but keep an eye on the renewal notice. Make sure that the market value remains in the ballpark of what you want should something go a miss. That being said, I'd lock in the 11k as agreed value if you can. The $$ shouldn't change.

The point with Budget Direct was, after finding the car had extractors they were saying he had modified it without notifying them and that they wouldn't pay him anything. Not that extractors are illegal mods, just he hadn't told them. So just make sure if you modify the car/bike in any way that you notify them.

And yes always insist on agreed value.

you guys are lucky. we have no choice in my province, government monopoly on vehicle insurance. who say "we have the cheapest rates in the country" and i could move 2 to 2 1/2hours to either side to a new province and get cheaper insurance.
My 1987 Gamma 250 basic insurance no fire /theft/collision on a pleasure plate is over $800 a year.:fuckyou:

Jesus Ray, that's highway robbery. Ever thought of coming down under, insurance is much cheaper.:lolsign:
I remember years ago living in the south of France, all registered vehicles required mandatory insurance, it was akin to a kings ransom for a 14 year old kid going to school. Tough gig!! My dad helped me out. :thumb_ups:
