    Found the cap that was on it .... 13/90
    Below recommended spec and the rest of the cooling system was very poorly maintained so a new one is the go

    Watch out for these Chief. They develop fine cracks that don't leak until the cooling system is under pressure.

    I think the piece sticking out of the case is the bit in the schematic. I've never seen a piece that goes over the top of the crankcase vent tube. The airbox should have a protruding hard plastic piece at the bottom with a soft rubber insert. The crankcase vent tube fits into that rubber bit. If there was an extension for the crankcase vent, I would think it would poke into the filter and the filter plastic cage. I may be wrong.

    ZXR airboxes are designed by the devil and fitting them is normally accompanied by torrents of swearing and tool throwing.

    Yea I think your right .... I did wonder why the piece in the schematic looked "upside down" ... haha .... also the top of the crankcase looks "flat" now I look a bit closer

    Its certainlty wedged in there .... not that it needs to come out
    the airbox has all the right bits but its now a "hard rubber insert " :D

    Bit of lube might help it along !

    For my zxrs i use just a Tridon CB15100 , same as most 90s Honda cars so its pretty common at the parts shops

    That part was there .... I smoothed off the 'sharp' edge on the metal joint piece in the crankcase and greased it up and also inside the rubber on the airbox and it slid on easily .... no carbs on at the moment but at least that part goes together now easy when its lined up

    Mr Grey, a long time ago this little project was stalled by a seized swingarm pivot bolt. Is it safe to assume that problem was fixed?

    That's the soft rubber piece that fits into the bottom of the airbox. The one The Chief said was now 'Hard Rubber'.

    Plenty of elbow grease on hand :)

    The little drain bolt on the cover , the head just fell off while removing the cover ..... thinking Ill have to drill it out, no ... it had totally corroded to dust

    Undoing the impeller bolt should be interesting

    Uggg .... everything seems to want to break on this bike

    I chickened out on pulling the impeller etc as the bolt was super tight

    So after cleaning up the impeller and scraping off 30 yr old gasket , bits fell off one of the blades (and no I wasnt using the "big hammer" ) :commando:

    Leave it? replace it? set fire to it?

    looks like its been wacking the cover
