Hey guys, this thread will be build/race log on my mc18. So feel free to follow on my experiences with the bike !
I bought the bike in early September from Chris, one of the admins. I bought the bike for the intention to race historics in the 2016 season. History: The bike was imported from japan and the previous owner before Chris (who I forget the name), raced in events such as the Big Chill at Stanthorpe before passing it onto Chris. The bike features: (Modifications from stock) RS styled fibre glass 17' Rear Rim HRC Expansion Pipes HRC Airbox running open carbs HRC Ignition Obvious things like lights and oil pump have been removed. Below is a photo of the bike as is when I picked it up.
After I bought the bike it was straight down to my mechanic for a carb tune and general look over. The bike was found to have a blocked up carb and one of the jets backwards, after fixing that the bike appears to be running smoothly. Note I have only taken the bike up and down the street a couple of times after the tune and the power of the bike at first glance is exceptional. I also fitted new tyres which are Dunlop Alpha 13's. They have a nice 'semi slick' tread pattern to them and they have good reviews. Photo below. I have a track day at lakeside next Wednesday so I will post my experience with the bike then. Stay tuned !
Very cool machine and the tyre choice is good I have run the 12's and currently have a 13 on the front and they are very grippy when up to temp. I'm a little confused about you mentioning about one of your carb jets being backwards? They only have a thread on one end. Did you mean the wrong size was in the wrong carb?
\ I didn't really understand when my mechanic told me either tbh, but I did miss a bit of info when he was explaining it to me so I cant explain the the issue at length sorry. How are you finding the wear on the front 13 ?
13 are good but Conti sp2 better and I'm going super corsa next as I know all the other 250 proddie guys run them and said nothing compares so should knock more time off Should get out to Morgan park and race f3 mate
Nice, 2 strokes aren't too common at track days. I thought they'd be near impossible to get past the sound check at Lakeside. Also, if you need parts for the MC18 I have heaps.
I did a track day there earlier this year and my noise levels where ok. Nathan where abouts in Briz are you.
Mate, glad to here you have spares ! The price and availability of parts is ridiculous is pretty bad.
Hey guys, just a little update on the NSR. On Wednesday I went to Lakeside raceway for a track day. Man it was great fun ! They ran 5 15minute sessions with a fast and slow group. Talk about value for money ! I was absolutely knackered by the end of the day. The bike ran excellent, it handles superbly and has stacks of power. The A13's ran well with good wear and I should get a couple more track days on them. I will link a video that I put up on Facebook for you guys to watch. Also big thanks to Brizfox for coming out and saying hello ! My mate and I were absolutely melting over the your mc21. Next up for the NSR is another track day at Lakeside on the 18th of November then a break over the summer where the bikes engine will be looked at. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=507313942767882
Awesome video! What sprockets are you running? I was thinking of getting a few bigger ones from Tyga to help corner exiting but don't want to lose too much top speed.
