As someone pointed out, it is some sort of industrial engine, long stroke, single exhaust valve operated by a pushrod.

Honda have said for the longest time that they are 4 stroke company , if anyone does bring out a decent 2 banger , it will be Yamaha or Kawasaki, then the others will follow suit

These stories get rehashed usually April 1st every few years.
The 2 smoke died in the 90's, best to leave it there.

Well fortunately you can still buy 2-stroke dirt bikes, so they are not actually completely dead.

2 Stroke engines have large potential, Just waiting for tech to catch up, they're ideal as race bike and fast onroaders, everyone's just gone soft XD

It's all the emissions bullshite that made 2 strokes go the way of the dodo... but I'd still like to have one someday

30 years and every day I move closer to biting the bullet and letting it go.

31,000km on a two stroke which Ive probably spent more $ and man hrs than 500,000km on 4 stroke bikes that turn key and straight to race pace without any more than regular servicing.
