G'day all, I've inherited a partially disassembled Suzuki Bandit (GSF250N). I'm baffled by the fuel/vacuum hook-ups to the carbs - can anybody help with an explanation/diagram?

I'm not familiar with that model specifically, but one of the vacuum lines from either one of the carby inlet manifolds or carby diaphragm cap should go to the fuel tap. From memory, my bandit had vacuum ports with rubber caps on the diaphragm caps. I cannot recall if there were vacuum ports on the inlet manifolds.

Some bikes, like GSXR's, have vacuum lines linked together and going to the MAP sensor (at least on the fuel injected models) to facilitate easy balancing, just disconnect a line and hook up to vacuum balancer and reconnect once done. Not sure if that is the case for the bandit.

Thanks for that, Linkin. In my case, the vacuum ports on the diaphragm caps all have their the rubber caps in place and look undisturbed!? I can't see anything that looks like a vacuum port anywhere on the inlet manifolds.

As for fuel connections on the carbs - there is one obvious candidate located between carbs 2 & 3, level with the bottom of the float chambers. There are also 2 similar looking connectors, one between between carbs 1 & 2 and the other between carbs 3 & 4, level with the top of the float chambers?? I'm planning to hook the fuel feed to the lower, single one - what are the other 2 for?

The centre between 2 and 3 is the fuel inlet. The ones between 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 are vents to atmosphere

Thanks again Linkin. I have now discovered the vacuum port - it's on the rubber manifold tube on cylinder 2.

The engine has come to life, after at least a 5 year hiatus, initially with assistance from StartYaBastard, locally known (far less humourlessly) as QuickStart. Next trick will be sorting out a gummed-up throttle cable and seized choke ditto. Road test will not place, however, until the small matter of the seized rear brake has been attended to.

Thanks for the 'Nice work' and likes guys. The throttle and choke cables have been sorted, as has the seized rear brake, thanks go to Delboy's garage for a brilliant video:

Road test is still outstanding, however, due to a really frustrating ignition problem - currently no spark anywhere! At other times one or two cylinders will be out - does anyone have any ideas???

I have just discovered a table of resistance checks for the ignitor unit. The bike is in a friend's garage, so those checks will have to wait for the next visit... Hopefully the table actually refers to my model!?
