    Hi everyone,

Great reading through these forums lately over lockdown!

New to bikes and working on them. I have acquired a 2004 suzuki gsx250 invader. Not a fast bike, a nice ride though. Had all the problems with getting an old bike running so I paid the hundreds for a full carby clean as each new task required more tools to buy! Recently the coils went after the bike is warmed up, replaced coils and all working fine again. The latest problem i've had is one of the fuel lines running to the petcock from the tank blew off while riding (metal piece fuel line attaches to blew out the petcock), reattached and bike would start and run fine. Ordered a replacement petcock, installed seemed straight forward. Bike wont start! Tried old petcock again wont start! Can confirm getting spark and fuel is flowing out of the petcock. I've replaced my fuel lines a few times but have never unplugged the vacuum line connected to the petcock. Only thing I did different this time!

Is there a special procedure to reconnecting the vacuum line?

Really avoiding taking into the shop as it's been in 3 times for the coil problem and he never worked it out, dont think he bothered driving it 2meters down the road, just always said it was the carby, dont trust the shop now

Due to only a 30 page manual that doesnt state anything and my limited knowledge, trying to learn off old manuals that aren't for the bike and all in black and white blurry pictures.

    Would really appreciate some help

    Kind Regards

Take a photo of the tap and post it. The vacuum line operates a diaphragm that allows the fuel to flow. There should also be a prime position that will allow fuel to flow regardless of the diaphragm. Once you have eliminated the tap as the source of the problem we can move forward.

Welcome and do what maelstrom said, so we can help you. Also, post a few pics of your bike while you're taking pics.
