I've had to pull the head on the POS I have here at present to helicoil a stripped plug thread and it's shown up some possible pitfalls in the cooling system.
I don't know how much of this is applicable to later models but it may help someone...

The water pump - this is NOT self bleeding. There's a 10mm headed screw in the facing side of the pump body which is a bleed screw. Open it to let out trapped air, close when water appears.

The system flow is pump to the LHS barrel. The RHS is fed via a cast in passage below the cam chain on the front of the barrel. IMO when filling/bleeding the bike should be leaned to the left severely in order to get flow into the RHS of the barrel and head.
If I was building one to race, I'd use the blank boss on the RHS barrel and fabricate a water manifold to feed both sides of the engine properly.

And yes, signs on this one that the RHS had overheated....plus SFA coolant in it.
