I recently bought a 95 bandit. It definitely has the variable cam. As I was pulling it down to do a valve clearance check i noticed that the solenoid and fail safe switch were unplugged. For the life of me I cant find anywhere on the loom where they would plug in. The manual isn't that helpful as it only schematic.
It kind of lends itself to a bigger picture question should i even care?
The bike was running before i got it. Is the vc setup worth it and does it make any real difference to how the bike runs?

Hi Singo. Can you post a couple of pics of the engine/setup so we can have a look at what's maybe going on in there. According to the below wiring diagram (may be the wrong one), it looks like SOLENOID pink and orange/blue wires go back to the CDI unit. Electrical is not my strong point, so hopefully one of the gurus can help you out.

A couple of pictures. Can anyone confirm this is the vc CDI unit?

This information might be of assistance.

Are you sure that the frame and engine match??? Could a VC engine have been placed in an earlier frame?
It appears that with the VC stuff de-energised the engine should be running on the higher performance cam lobes. The net effect would be that you might loose a little performance at lower speeds but the top end performance should be ok.
