I used to live in Carnegie many years ago (Belsize Ave) . So I know the area reasonably well. Is your bike mobile yet? A small piece of fuel line should be fairly straightforward. As mentioned earlier. Post some pics so that we can offer some better advice. I am happy to help some, but my time is very limited. Send me a PM and I will see if we can get something organised.

    Peter.

ohh.. oakleigh sth ... that is quite close hehe..
@jmw76 .. you used to live in the hood eh? Awww shame you aren't there anymore.. although the Belsize Ave end gets very busy now :( I try and avoid that end!

It was mobile last week.. I'll try and ride it over the weekend and see if it is ok! I just hurt my neck on Monday so I'm waiting for it to get better and see if it can cope with having a helmet on and with my neck in a funny position hehe *touch wood* the bike starts and stays on! pleaaaaase :S It has been on the trickle all week..

If the issues return and won't start.. I'd love to be able to pick your brains.. @jmw76 and @Frankster .. if you guys have a bit of time to come over one day.. it would be greatly appreciated... if the offer is there hehe I'll give you some food for your time :p

How long should the fuel hose be if there isn't an inline fuel filter please? :p Thanks

Sing out if you get stuck @talstails. There shouldn't be a limit to the fuel line length...just make sure there are no kinks or restrictions in the hose.

Use a piece of string to measure what length fuel line you need, then buy something 5cm's cm's longer, that way you can cut it back if needed
Anew/sharp box cutter is good for cutting the new fuel line

The length doesn't matter, as long as it connects. If you're unsure cut it long then cut it back once you test fit. As long as it's got no kinks it will be fine.

Arghhhhhhhh.. my new battery is only a few months old! Had some trouble starting the bike today.. finally got it to run.. I put in some new fuel as I thought maybe it was a bit low.. maybe the carbies need cleaning and the sparkies? Are any of you Melbourne guys able to help out this poor oldish.. well.. not ancient.. but not young.. 32 year old girl if you know what you are doing and have done it before.. to pull out the carbies and clean them with me please? I would reallllllllyy appreciate it!

@jmw76 .. @Frankster did either of you know how to do it or have the time and patience to help me out please one day? hehe Sorry to ask :p

My other question is.. I just paid my car and motorbike rego.. omg.. is it going up each year?! I asked them about club rego.. one told me 25 years.. and that I have to go join a cheap club and get rwc done first - hopefully at a respectable place that won't pull wool over my eyes nor charge an arm and a leg.. and then go back to Vicroads etc.. Another one told me it is only 20 years to get on club permit.. Which is correct please? So confused!

Yep, bike needs to be older than 25 years for club permit. You also need to maintain a log book of when you ride and I think there is a limit on the maximum number of days per year that you can ride (90).
I have a friend that runs a very low cost car club that was set up to utilise the club permit scheme. He hasctold me that they accept motorcycles.
I think his club was only like $20/year and club permit rego is about $100.
    I will make enquiries.

Sorry, I am fairly busy over the next few weeks so can not help at present.

    Peter.

    45 day permit $90
    90 day permit $140
Roadworthy (only required first year) $~150
    Club250 permit membership $65 ($45 year 2 onwards)
    Log book $6

Hence around $350 first year with us.

My mates club seems to be going through some changes currently. So probably a dead end.
    http://www.yarravalleycarclub.com/

Try chasing up VicRoads for other cost effective clubs.

For a roadworthy I have used 60 degrees in Notting Hill previously. They seem to specialise in the smaller bikes.

    Cheers

I did a quick google before.. I found a cheap one for like $45 for club permit but you can't be straight for that group - I still like guys. :(

Yeah. Happy for you to give me a reminder later in the month.

60 degrees charged $135 for the roadworthy on my bike about 5 months ago.
If they find anything wrong they will offer to help fix, but you can repair yourself and bring back.
I think it might be a little cheaper if it passes the first inspection. Mine needed fork seals, which I also purchased off them.

The big hassle is getting the bike there if it is unregistered, as mine was.
I used a trailer, as I had one, but you could get a permit from VicRoads and ride it there.

So there's no confusion, have a look at our club permit document. It spells it out for you. The only price variance is the roadworthy, assuming you pay $150 for the RW (if you go out to hoppers our partner city west yamaha will do you one for $110) - the cost with our club would be $311 in total (vicroads, club fees, roadie) for the 1st year, and $141 for every year afterwards.

Our club has a lot of uni students and smaller engine riders (quite a few MC22's/MC21's as well) so we keep the fees low. And we don't care about your sexual preferences at all lol

:dance2:Joker, that is a nice simple little document to understand. Far better than wading through endless amounts of VicRoads stuff.

    Hi @talstails.

Yes, I recently pulled carbs off a CBR250RR in Brisbane, so I have a rough idea what to do. It's painful. Changing plugs isn't too hard, but both jobs require you to remove the body work and checking/changing the plugs will require swinging the Radiator away, so it's a bit painful if you're doing it on the ground with the sidestand. Do you have access to a work platform? And, for VIC RWC I use Pablo's tyres in Mulgrave. They're not too expensive and do reasonably good work. You might also ask them about your starting issues. Give Rick a call on 9561 5522 and ask him how much for a RWC for your bike. PM me if you want me to pop over and have a quick look at your bike's starting issues. I'm not around much these days and don't check 2fiftycc website as much as I used to, so apologizes if I take a couple of days to reply.

    Cheers

    Frank
