I was looking through images from the weekend's HPR All Bikes event and thought this one was a great pic.

Another track in Queensland that I didn't know existed! Plenty of drag racing going on in the northern states. This one is in Roma, which is a bit further away than the one in Stanthorpe (from Tamworth).

@Frankster a fair old hike from Melbourne and even more so from Tassy.
A distinct lack of venues down south.

And, the more I look, the more I find. Warwick is about 60km from Stanthorpe (Carnell Raceway). I could almost spend every weekend racing if I move back to QLD (sh*t, I hope my wife doesn't read this).

I'll definately need to try and do a double-weekend at some stage this year. I didn't even look at Dubbo, but they're racing the weekend before Gunnedah, so that would have been a new 'track' that I've never raced at. I could have raced there on the way to Gunnedah/Tamworth.

Well, if I don't make it up to Gunnedah this weekend, there's always the next 'All Bikes' event at HPR on the 18th of June. Maybe some of the Team 2fiftycc NSW guys might wander down for a run on a 1/4 mile track.

Seriously, I'm going to lobby the IHRA to have 'wildcard' entrants allowed into their Junior Dragster class. I might use your 'old farts on old bikes' as a 'rule' e.g. any rider older than 18 must ride a bike that can be club registered in most states (25 years old). I hoping the class goes over well at the Winternationals so we have some traction moving forward. One of those A/JDB ran a 8.9 something in the first lot of runs at the Winters. Not sure if it was a larger capacity bike, but still, an 8.9 is pretty good. I'm guessing the jockeys aren't carrying the same amount of ballast as some of us are.

Rules we'd fall under would be as follows (no 2-strokes unfortunately)...

A/JDB – For riders between the ages of 13 and 18 years inclusive. limited to ET no quicker than 8.90 seconds and top speed not faster then 80MPH (129 km/h). Class engine capacity limits 161cc to 350cc

Reading their FB page I thought they would be all "modern" LAMs bikes

    Whats with the "mph" thing?

    What's with the "mph" thing?

Drag racing started in the USA and was originally based on who was the fastest at the end of the 1/4 mile. Probably since drag racing evolved from land speed 'racing'. Drag Racing changed to who was the quickest along the way, but everything is in MPH because it is the default unit of measure in the most popular drag racing country in the world (the USA) and records are recorded using MPH. I still look for my 'mph' and not my 'kph' on my time cards.

Yea I kinda guessed it was a yank thing
At least when they show top speed in MotoGP they display both

I remember when we went to "metric" and converting the speed limits etc all the time , after growing up with MPH
Now the only time my old head relates to it is "doin' the ton" :lolsign:

Yep, a lot of motorsport shows both so our mates in the USA and other imperial UOM countries can figure how fast everything is. F1 shows/displays both.

I remember when we went to "metric" and converting the speed limits etc all the time

I remember new car speedos displaying both Imperial & Metric for a few years during the conversion.

Willowbank are having an 'All Bike' meeting on the 9th of July if any 2fiftycc members want to have a crack. I'd love to, but the cost of the diesel to get up there would require me to get a bank loan!

There are 4 ladies entered in this weekend's NHRA event at Motorsport Park in Ohio...3 of them are qualified in the top 4! Go girls.
