Help FZR250 2KR Annoying Leaking Emulsion Tube (Video)

    Thanks, it's exactly the same height as the others. I'll change the needle & seat o-ring again (already have brand new needles & o-rings installed), bump up the height a bit & see if it fixes the issue.

    Check the fuel height with some clear tube on the fuel bowl drain before you take it off
    Hold the clear tube up above the top of the carby and open the drain screw.
    You'll be able to see the fuel height against the outside of the fuel bowl
    Compare the height to another carby, to see if it's the same, or higher

    The plot thickens... So despite the floats all being exactly the same height the leaking carb fuel level is higher than the rest.

    Inner leaking carb fuel level seems a fair bit higher, also the fuel looks dirty ? No idea why as they have been cleaned a dozen times already

    Check the needle and seat for the float valve. If they are removeable, replace the seats. Possible that the screen is clogged, or the o-ring is broken and letting too much fuel through, or the tip of the needle is not sealing against the seat.

    Options I can think of
    1/ Needle & Seat
    2/ Float seat o-ring
    3/ crack in carb body
    Float height is measured when float tang touches the needle tip not when it compresses the spring (assuming your model has a float needle with a sprung tip).

    Ya I already replaced the o-ring & valve with brand new ones. The little filter on the valve seat & seat itself is clean/dirt free. I'll replace them both it again & see how we go.

    Ya that's how I measured them. Do you know a tried & true float height for the 2KR carbs ? Was getting a lot of mixed info on the net. They are currently at 10.5mm with the float LIGHTLY resting on teh needle.

    Perhaps switch just the needles between the adjacent carbs and see if the fuel height problem travels with the needle - quick way to see if that needle is problematic.

    Thankfully the needles are readily available and reasonably priced I believe - someone out there know if they are the same as 3LN series carbs?

    Forgot to mention float height on 3LN1 is 16mm - fuel height 9.2mm, 3LN3 -> 7 float height 14.7mm - fuel height 10.5mm

    Unfortunately I believe the 2KR's are significantly different floats so perhaps getting a fuel height is simpler and comparing with a 3LN1 if possible - then see what your float height measures out at for a given fuel height to see if there are similarities

    Ok, leak fixed. Good old blow down the fuel line trick :lolsign:

    Hmm, i'll check the fuel height again now that I've fixed the leak. Might have something to do with the new bogging issue

    .The 2kr carb's are very different. Was getting a lot of different opinions on the 2kr carb fuel level's.

    Fuel height's are still too high, try setting them 1mm lower and try it again
    So have the float's sitting further from the fuel bowl mounting face on the bottom of the carby's

    So 9.5mm or 11.5mm from the side of the carb body (currently at 10.5mm & 1.5turns out on all mix screws) ?

    How many mm's are the float's sitting off the base of the carby with the floats' tab just touching the needle tip now ?

    Glad it was simple to find that broken o-ring - that's a win

    OK just to clarify @my67xr said fuel height is too high which means the float height is too low - so from 10.5mm go to 11.5mm
    This will lower the fuel level in the carbs - make it run leaner
    Rule is as float height is made higher the fuel level becomes lower

    I'd be suprised if it will rev properly without the airbox - putting it on and taking it off again is what makes working on the carbs just so much fun :D

    Yamahas opinion is right here in the 2KR manual .... but you will need a course in Japanese first

    I've been looking on some Japanese blog's and one has mentioned the fuel level should be somewhere between 17.5mm - 19.5 mm
    Might be the float to carby base measurement?


    How much higher is your fuel level to this line in the pic below
    I reckon each carby should have the fuel level at this line, look's pretty close to the top of the main jet pickup tube 20180605_141118.jpg
