Help FZR250 2KR Annoying Leaking Emulsion Tube (Video)

    G'day,

    Full screen it & you can see it leaking from around the emulsion tube.


    After fixing many, many issues with this carb the last thing on the list is this annoying leaking emulsion tube. Just wont stop it leaking :lolsign:.

    It's actually leaking from "around" the tube itself. Only leaks while the bike is running after 30sec or so it starts slowly leaking. From that small hole at the front of the carb as well you can see when I compress the diaphram.

    The tube itself looks to be in good shape/not worn. So just replace the emulsion tube? Or you reckon it's something else causing this ? Thoughts ?

    Your slides arnt moving with the revs

    Yes they are. All are moving freely/evenly with the throttle open.

    Those are Bandit carbs with much softer slides. I have a bandit also.

    Yeah the emulsion tube's for the BDST etc all look pretty much the same, it's the internal diameter that's different where the needle sit's
    There should be a part number on your's

    My Mikuni BDST26 carburetor's off my 2KR engine have Mikuni 601 series N8 needle jet/emulsion tube's.
    The little brass nut's and the brass washer hold them tight into the housing on the fuel bowl side and stop them leaking, but over tightening them will risk breaking the cupped/hollow nut

    I can't see any leaking emulsion tube. Fuel coming out of the air jet does not mean the emulsion tube is leaking.

    Ahh they look exactly like my Bandit carbs. The older 2kr diaphragms are much stiffer.

    Are they original? ... I would suggest they are stuffed , gone hard or split as your slides , to me , are doing zero

    Actually it's the diaphragm spring that hold them down are stiffer. The diaphragms themselves are soft & in excellent condition.

    Stiffer springs are only fitted to slide carbs. For vacuum operated jobbies most people want to fit lighter springs or perform the drill the slide mod to increase throttle response.

    Thanks all for everyone's input so far, much appreciated.

    Here's a better vid. On closer inspection, I think it's leaking from that vent at the front & the emulsion tube.... Hard to tell exactly. Overflow fills up to you can see towards the end.

    Thoughts ?

    That port supply's air to the emulsion tube for the main jet.
    I would say your float level is too high for that carby, or you have a leaking needle and seat (fuel inlet valve, or o'ring)

    The petrol get's drawn up through the main jet and mixes with air from that port on the filter side of the carby, and then goes up through the needle jet into the main bore of the carby. 20180605_111940.jpg 20180605_112252.jpg
