Brake fluid can eat into the powdercoat like it does to paint I would use some methylated spirit's and a toothbrush and or pipecleaner then wash it all off with water, and use compressed air to blow it out, brake fluid is water soluble so in most case's it'll wash off. You may need to use some brake cleaner but test some on the paint somewhere inconspicuous first.
Yes, agree with that. Don't use harsh chemicals or cleaners on powder coated surfaces. As regards the fasteners that you mentioned before, a lot of the fasteners in my Honda I am having electroless nickel plated and it works a treat. @my67xr did some of this at home, worth looking into.
I think its around 20nm .... use blue loctite https://www.2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/yamaha-fzx250-zeal-tightening-torque.127/
so I got the rims recovered in a solid colour and they look way better. Just been masking up the discs so i can give them a paint. hopefully have the wheels back on the bike in the next couple of days.
not sure about the yellow and the paint job on the discs is sub par. but its alot better than it was.
Haha, yes the yellow is just a tad too much. It is getting there though. I will watch with interest Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
OK so I've nearly managed to clean all the crap out of the calipers left by the powder coaters. what brake fluid do you guys recommend? just the stuff ya put in the car? dot 4?
If u have Bursons there get their own brake fluid .... its blue so its great for flushing and seeing the condition of your fluid
So been trying to clean these pots out. used a wire wheel to get most of the crap out but still some powder i can't get out. so i have them soaking in brake fluid. hopefully it dissolves most of the crap out.
Lets hope that gets the excess powder out.. Be prepared for the shock of your life when you buy seal kits for the calipers.. I have no idea why they are so damned expensive. Did you get the Disk rotors blasted? Mine measure up ok and are straight.. I might try blasting them to see how they come up..
Yeah the pistons and seals weren't cheap. i just got the discs blasted and got the whole wheel assembly balanced together.
Hi guys. does anybody know what the chain slack is suppose to be on the FZR also any tips? never adjusted chain slack before.
