Wanted to overhaul the front brakes off the 3LN3, but Powerhouse does not carry them anymore. Pity, my experience with Powerhouse kits are really good. Anyway, somebody experience with other brands? I see that in Australia, somebody is offering rebuild kits.
Found an seal supplier in the UK: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-caliper-seal-kit-yamaha-FZR250-1988-1991/254205156906 So they are on my desk now and I did split one caliper. Wow, very dirty. Pics will follow. Anyway. I am thinking of installing new pads. Somebody info if there are pads interchangeable with other bikes? In Holland, there are not much 3LN3 Yamaha's represented. And what about the disks? What is the minimum thickness? Any good tips, anyone?
Geez, found some info: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FERODO-...0R-MT-07-TMAX500-MT-09-MT-10-R1-/123458788366 A lot of bikes: R6, MT7, Tracer, etc, etc.
Hmm, seal kit does not work out. The kit contains seals with 27 mm en 30 mm. But my 3LN3 is having 27 and 33 mm. I contacted the seller and he is telling me that my bike is having non standard brakes. Is it? Did the 3LN3 left the factory with 27 and 30 mm pistons?
https://www.cmsnl.com/search/?section=all&q=3LN-W0047-10&tab= The part number for the 3LN1 is 3LN-W0047-00 & the later models 3LN-W0047-10, but that just appears to be a superseded number. Personally, I seriously doubt that they changed the size of the pistons. If they did it should be in the brochure for the 3LN3 and it is not.
Thanks for the link Blair. (I could have done that myselfe... sigh...) Surprisingly, the seal kit can be ordered by Yamaha. Not cheap, about 35 euro per caliper. Curious what size the seals are. The Ebay seller keeps believing that 33 mm pistons are not stock on the 3LN3. I serious doubt that, absolute no indications for an brake "upgrade" on my bike. Time will tell. Measured the piston seals, for the 27 mm piston: Height =3 mm Width = 3.25 mm Dust seal: H = 2 mm W = 1.75 mm The 33 mm piston: H = 3 mm W = 3.25 mm Dust seal: H = 2 mm W = 1.75 mm In the mean time ripped the calipers from the bike and split them. Hmm, time to service them after 30 years off use
