Just checking my paypal account and found a few tiny amounts taken out (which I didnt know about)..Looks like ebay is collecting the gst separate for your OS purchases...Just a heads up if like me your week to week and the cents matter :) you may need to add 10% to all OS ebay transactions...Yeah it was prob in one of the emails or statements from ebay paypal but I missed it :D

Most eBay ads from Overseas now say GST may be added or deducted I think.. I have seen a couple.
I dont think it is a big deal as long as you know about it.. the bigger issue for me is that Amazon.com now refuse to ship to Australia and you get transferred to the Amazon.com.au but in 99% of cases they dont have the same item or anything that is even close to it.
No doubt they will get better as time goes on but right now.. amazon Australia is a waste of time.

It's been happening for at least the last 10 day's.
Normally it's included in the total price though ? eg good's price +10% gst

eBay does show the amount of GST being added during checkout, but if you're not used to look for details, you will probably miss it. But the way they collect the GST is a bit unusual. They process the payment for the GST separately to your purchase. I think the funds go to a different account, within Australia.

VPN or anonymous proxy and ship to one of the many forwarding company's in the us...If amazon doesn't free ship in the US it can get costly paying twice for shipping..or get a US facebook friend to on ship

All the forwarding companies in the US are also charging the GST so nothing is gained, plus that additional freight charges the freight forwarding companies charge you are better off buying the item here..we have done the exercise a few times in the last few days... the extra hassle just isnt worth any potential saving.

Yeah more for that must have item...when cost isnt a factor...My son runs a small home brewing business, so we tend to use his network when we cant find the stuff locally....
