Just a FYI here for everyone in and around Tamworth NSW. Being that the NSW Premier said motorcycle riding is a form of exercise, I wanted clarification on the rules. I want to go for a ride - even a short one, but also don't want to risk a big fine. So I phone the local Police Station here in Tamworth and spoke to a Senior Constable on duty about this. He agreed - yes, motorcycle riding has been classified as a form of exercise, so we can go for a ride - but only in out local area. So going for a ride to Nundle or Walcha - we risk getting fined. But for example, I asked if I went for a ride from my place through Daruka, Moonbi Gap road to Moonbi and then back through to Kootingal and then Nemingha and back to Tamworth, would I get booked and fined for this. Answer is No. I would not and should not get fined for doing this. Local roads and in the local Tamworth regional area. So, after I mow the lawn this morning and have some lunch - guess what I'm doing this afternoon.. Side note - I would just check with your local Police Station just to make sure on what you can do and where you can go for a ride to. Certainly don't want to risk being fined. Like all of us here, I have better things to spend $1000+ on rather than a fine for going for a ride. But at least now I know what I can do. Best of all if I do get pulled over by highway patrol, I can at least give them the name of the Senior Constable I spoke to at the local Police Station..and have them contact him. As I will only be doing what the Senior Constable said I am allowed to do.
@Grasshopper and I did pretty much that ride on Friday ..... and there was Highway Patrol sitting at Moonbi ( to our right as we turned left from Moonbi Gap Rd ) and another passed us at the top of the Moonbis ..... and dont go to Bendemeer as there is a kilometre or so of roadworks and gravel everywhere just before the Bendy turn off
