I guess the difference is Grey that carb boots are not the same type of 'rubber' that radiator hoses are made of. Years ago used a piece of rad hose for a carb inlet on a stationary motor and it swelled and split because of the petrol. The carb boots and similar pieces in contact with fuel are more of a plastic type rubber and would not be affected by the glycol. That article about using Wintergreen Oil with the solvent to leach it into the rubbers may have some merit. If I find some I may give it a go.

Radiator hoses are EPDM, same as the seal in your brakes. Have no tolerance for petrochemicals. Good quality carb boots, like OEM, are made from an NBR-PVC blend.
