The front brake on my fairly recently acquired CB250RSA was dreadful - wooden and ineffective. I've improved matters a lot by fitting a master cylinder with 14mm bore and 20mm pivot - abutment distance rather than the 18mm and 25mm respectively on the cylinder it came with. However it's still lacking a bit of bite although the feel is much inproved.

What pads would people recommend as I search for braking nirvana?

Have you serviced the slave cylinder ? I recently did mine and what a difference it has made new seals pistons / seals / pads greased as required re filled the fluid
These calipers are known to be sticky

Everyone will have there own preference on disc pad's , there seem's to be a fair few brand's to suit.

I yous'e to use the Vesrah brake pad's on my old early BM , they improved braking time , but really gave the rotor's a hard time.

Personally , i'd be also changing out the brake hose with a braided one. I'f you still have the original Honda one fitted , it would be way past it's use by date as such. If your concerned on the braided look , you can ask them to add black sleeving so it look's more O.E.
