Welcome to my Cafe build, A few months ago I picked up a 81 gsx 250 on gumtree for only $400 and I got stuck into her strait away. As the bike stands now she is almost complete with only a few technical issues in the way. I have taken a few pics along the way and they will be on here shortly. Until then, thanks for having a look Scotty
First thing I did was throw away the seat and looked for a replacement which I found on eBay $140 freight included only took 4 days from Vietnam. As you could imagine I was stoked.
Stripped back the tank and have placed the new seat to how it will look Engine is polishing up quite nicely by now.
Bike is starting to look the goods there! Ive seen that guy in Vietnam selling seats .... hows the quality? ....looks good in the pics. Are u going to put a rounded tail bar on the rear? .... like this kinda thing
The seat looks great all hand crafted, as for the frame, I have cut off strait behind tags so the indicators can go in.
This is the final product tail light/plate holder and indicators. Tail light came with the seat, cat eye indicators x4 $4 on eBay, plate holder I knocked up out of alloy plate.
The tank is what took me the longest and it is what I am most proud It's a pearlised 70s Holden White. Came up a million dollars I'm yet to get a photo in the right light.
Other things I purchased along the way Pod filters $9 for pair eBay Speedo $20 eBay Pipes unbelievable $120 also eBay.
Yep, SWEET! Do you think you may have cut too much of the front guard as apart from no engine protection from road crap it is hardly legal. You may want to try a bit of thin plastic or film negative to clean that left fork seal. Rear footpegs? You must have a VERY close pillion.
thats cool, I think your fender is a tad short, if you do replace it, it would look killer painted like the tank, bit like the old RD400 Daytona's mental note to self - keep an eye out for a GSX
Just took Suzie on her maiden voyage, 110 down the highway just to get the bugs out. Runs sweet Sounds sweet And a lot quicker than I thought she would be. To answer some Q's, pods seem ok and I've got another fender from a doner bike in the shed, this one was dented so cut it back to see what it looked like.
Its good to see another GSX 250 being rebuilt to a cafe racer, I enjoying riding mine and building up a parts bin of jobs to be done over winter.
