I was just wondering if you got the bike up and running and if so how did the Chinese pistons work out? I think I will need to get oversized pistons by the looks of my bores. They measure up really good but I fear the scoring is to deep to clean up with a hone.

Alas I had loads of problems and it is sitting up the back of the shed , I broke a ring so I ordered a replacement set and had someone else fit it and that ring broke as well.

I recently acquired a 1999 bandit 250 with variable valve timing . I was thinking of seeing if it will fit in the gsxr250 frame

That Engine looks identical to the early 1990 bandit with 20k tacho.

Pretty sure I got one sitting around somewhere.

I believe it is the same , the only different being the flywheel and rotor

After purchasing @amct77 ’s bandit, I have decided that it could be a candidate for a transplant. I did a compression test today thinking it would be super low as it hasn’t run in a long time. The head gasket was supposedly toast and a new oem gasket was supplied with the bike , Comp readings were 175, 200,195,170. the head came off nice and easy and I noted the inlet valves were quite good but there was lots of carbon on the exhaust valves. I did a petrol leak test and one inlet valve on number 2 was leaking , I did remove and clean up the exhaust valves on 1 and 4 and cleaned up the leaking inlet valve the cylinder head is now back on and we will hopefully see readings closer to 200 psi per pot. All going well , I will pop it in the gixxer frame.
