not buying one but out of curiosity , any one had anything to do with these , definitly cheap or is it a matter of too cheap , the 400 looks good in photos but as we all know photos can tell a thousand lies
Hi flea , was not long talking to a owner , he mentioned the money that he has thrown at it , as is big bore kit and Dynoed. But the owner does work at a bike shop , so no doubt purchased part's at a good price. I think if the bike wasn't worth it , as in quality wise , he wouldn't have have spent money on performance. There was some good footage on Youtube a while back.
might have been up grading because he could ,from the little read not exactly a race bike thats for sure , be intresting to see what he thinks after a couple of months and also what the quality of the build is like
I could ask i'f you'd like me too , if he'd like to share some info on the go fast part's and what was the performance difference over the stock engine. Will have to wait till everyone goes back to work though.
if you like as few other people here maybe intrested , for me its just curiosity as no money and to many toys already
Have just sent a email to the Braap owner asking i'f he's interested in supplying some tech information. Hope he doe's , by the sound's of it , he's set the bike up pretty well = HP.
I never had one, but I know some people that do. It's not the best option for a commuter or to be used a lot. It's more of a weekend/fun bike, cheap to buy, and will last as long as you don't need to use it a lot. It's one of the mass produced Chinese bikes, not designed to last.
fairly well what i thought , what got me curious was their heavy marketing on u tube plus the fact they changed from dealer ships to direct selling by them selves ,done for cheaper selling prices ? OR too many complaints from the dealerships .. MMMM
Hi to all. Had a reply from the Braap owner. The owner was very kind enough to supply information of his bike in stock trim and also what has done , it's pretty impressive and look's like he's thrown some serious dollar's at it. This is the bike he wanted to build as such by the look's of it , so good on him. Anyway here's the info that was supplied. We even have picture's too. It is a 2018 model They are a fun little bike to ride around but in stock form there is a few things that could be improved. Front forks are under sprung (Too soft) & you can always use a bit more power I have fitted the following parts- (well all the things I can remember) Tyres Heavier fork springs & changed fork oil Hand levers Rear fender eliminator After-market exhaust system Mid & Bottom fairing panels Motor side of things Most of the motor parts are ex Japan & are Takegawa brand. Crankshaft & Connecting Rod 181cc Big Bore Kit 34mm Throttle Body 4 Valve Head (Standard is 2 valves) Larger Injector K&N Air Filter with some Airbox modification Clutch cover with oil filter included (No oil filter on the standard bike & removed the oil spinner) High Flow Oil Pump Heavy Duty Clutch Springs Extra Crank Bearing on the stator side The standard Grom has around 9 Horsepower & on the Dyno after tuning mine has around 22 horsepower now. It was still making more HP but didn’t want to raise the rev limit any higher (Red line is around 8.2 & we bumped it up to 9.3)
WOW.. as you said tossed a lot of cash and work at it , even new crank and rods , can tell he works in a bike shop .. 9-22hp is a big jump ... be intresting to see how long the motor last before exploding (dont mean to jink him) , from the sounds of things is he setting it up for racing and will be high rpms .. thanks cheap bike and a good base if have the time and money
Yep , the HP jump was pretty impressive over the stock number. The owner has done a amazing job though i think. The bike must be what the owner want's , like any of us , we throw money at what we want to ride / own , and i'm the worst one for that , as in throwing money at my bike. One guy said to me recently , why would you want to ride a 250 ! , i politely replied , it suit's my need's. I love the 4 valve head , it's amazing how many part's are made and supplied for the Braap . Wonder if the 4 valve head is from another bike though , as you'd have to have brilliant sales figure's to produce them just for the Braap model bike's. Re engine life , I suppose it depends on the individual owner on how long the engine's last's , how they ride the bike and maintenance side of it. The engine look's similar design to the CT postie bike , and the go fast part's for that are worth $$$$.
ct110 but with tubo has hit a max 122mph on yje salt flats . offiiale about 108mph , looked up braap and no 4 valve head as after market part that i could see , was surprised that was only a 9hp out of factory ,lots of parts for the 250 but looks like they are doing the hunter spyder marketing (and harley) , basic bike with lots of goodies you can buy (but still a piece of ****) and as far as the small bike knockers go... stuff them ,helps keep the 2nd hand prices down with the bigger is better attitude .. i like and have large bikes (thanks to the solo rego laws in qld) but always enjoy my 250s as they are small and nimble as well as some being fairly quick as we all know .. not to mention FUN as well ... be intresting to see any reports on the electric m/c .. top of range about 8500 before on rd which is very cheap BUT battery replacements is always the big dollar item , few yrs back when a electric m/ bike shop closed down in cairns there was a add up for a new one , equivilent of a 250cc , wanted 1800 for it , got in touch out of curiosity .. cheap price no batterys , battery cost was about 2500 , all this was about 10yrs back
I have a Braaap Moto3 and I've done about 400km on it. I also have the ST250 model with about 18km. I'll start a thread once I've ran them in if anyone's interested. They've both had a couple minor things that I've had to sort out. The Moto3 seems to be the better of the two. I agree the 400 looks great. I also put a deposit down on the MotoE last year, haven't heard any news on it yet as they're still sending it through ADR
that would be great stu ,not intrested in buying one but curiosity is high especially with the electric
