hey guys fairly new here just wondering if anyone know the specs on a megelli battery its a 250 11 model been rolll starting my bike for maybe 2 weeks and sick of it but it cant be out of action while i get a battery replaced so would reallly help cheers in advance.
None of the manuals I have list the specific battery type, all they say is needs a 12V 8AH Sealed Maintenance Free battery, the 2nd manual I have says 12V 9AH Sealed Maintenance Free battery. Can you pull your battery out and take it to a shop so it can be matched ? Chris
yeh ive come up with the exact same two v and a thats all i can find im trying to avoid it the batteries under my fuel tank im sure someone has had this issue or any similar needing to replace a megelli battery if worst comes to worst i will pull it apart friday
seat off, side covers off, ignition lock surround off THEN TANK OFF.rubber strap holding top of battery cover on normally is perished and breaks so a small belt works as a replacement. i find motobatt batteries good.when the tank is off i get a longer fuel line and install as it saves many choice words.extra 4-6 inches helps.
owners manual says 12 volt 8 amp hour sealed battery. while it is out set your tappets- 6 thou inlet ,8 thou exhaust. originally were set at a tight 2 thou at factory and as they tighten bike is impossible to start when hot.monkey fingers needed for exhaust tappets.keep the vocabulary down when doing or neighbours may not be happy.
yeh im allgood to get the battery out dont really understand the extension for the fuel line? and im picking it up quickly but not so mechanically minded, tappets? ive gotten the exhaust tig welded stock mounts were shocking but one thing at a time do you have a model or anything besides motobatt
The extension on the fuel line is so u can manouvere the tank around easier when doing stuff without detaching the lines The best way with the battery, if its the correct one to start with , is to remove it and take it to the local bike shop or wateva and they should be able to match it in size and amp hours and terminal position As mentioned the better ones are Motobatt or SSB Powersports ..... make sure its an AGM ..... should be around $100 or less Dont get a cheapo Chinese lead acid
the stock fuel line gives you no room to manouvre. cheap lead acid batteries are more expensive in the long run.original battery was yuasa and do not replace with one. you need a calcium chloride advanced glass mat battery.i prefer motobatt as they are heavier and that means more lead. the glass mat technology means the plates in the battery are individually wrapped so they cannot touch each other and short out.these sealed batteries do not leak acid and when you get the tank off you will see the battery is at an angle.put the top cover back on so the terminals do not short on the tank.DO NOT LOSE THE SCREW HOLDING THE PLASTIC AROUND THE IGNITION SWITCH Or BREAK THAT COVER.
hahah @risky **** that little ignition plate is flimsy but allgood just got the battery out no need for fuel line extension wether the last guy did it or not idk but yeh the belt holding battey cover was completely gone just a metal buckle on one side haha might upload a couple photos later if anyone else has the same problem thanks for all the tips @risky @GreyImport @kiffsta
ok, if battery good then look at solenoid. a cheap honda one will do- to test-ignition on and put a screwdriver across both nuts on solenoid and starter should turn. see if works, also spray electrical cleaner into start button.
then has the starter burnt out due to a cracked rhs crankcase which is a pain.in your video the tank is on and you are earthing out the chisel.
is that not the right nuts? couldnt find a screwdriver at the time so grabbed a chisel haha and tank is on because no longer a battery problem and solonoid is accessible from the side?
the chisel was touching the tank and you earthed the battery out so take the tank off and recharge the battery and test the solenoid with NO tank on.
nah mate thought there was a 1 percent chance it could shock me through the tank so made sure there was clearance and battery is fully charged
did starter turn?if not take it off and test?dismantle? if starter ok then2 choices- back to solenoid OR the dreaded crankcase failure of cracking which causes starter to jam and strip/ or burn out.design failure behind clutch area.is your kill switch turned on????
killswitch is turned on yes haha ive been roll starting it every day for work please explain a little more detail 'did the starter turn' am i expecting the engine to turn over completely or just some sort of noise from starter relay? im now thinking if not solonoid, then starter relay may have water damage ? is this common risky
