    Hi Guys

Rebuilding a GSF250P. When I got it, it was in pieces so have been working from a GSF400 manual and what I could scrape together online.

I am a bit stumped with two things...

#1 the fuel tap is a vacuum tap. No idea where to run hoses to the carbies etc to hook this up properly. I found a few pics so I understand the general concept, but I'm a bit lost on what to do specifically.

#2 wanted to double check the ignition coils. When I got it the LH coil was on #1 and #3 and the RH coil on #2 and #4. The only thing is the GSF400 manual has the LH on #1 and #4 and the RH on #2 and #3. Don't know if the 250 should be the same?

Appreciate any help. It's my first bike project so am learning a lot as I go.

This should explain. I just need to know where all the hoses go.

coils have to go to 1 and 4, 2 and 3 as otherwise they would be firing on the wrong stroke of the pistons.

Yeh that's what I was suspecting. Everything I'm reading (assuming the engine is the same as the GSXR250) says that but I just can't seem to confirm it with documentation.

20 is the vacuum line to the fuel tap
    28 is fuel line
I would guess 12 are vents and possibly hang off the air box ?
14 would just vent to air .. ?

Correct me if Im wrong anyone

Thanks for the help. I thought 20 would just be a drain? I'm thinking that 12's are probably the vacuum lines but that doesn't tell me what 14 and 13 are. I'd agree that 28 is probably the fuel tap line.

So damn hard with a manual that doesn't tell me much and nothing to reference x_X

If you look up the part numbers on google u will usually find out what they are by the description.... not always as sometimes its just 'hose'

    Hey Stu

Welcome to the Forum, I ride a 1992 GSF400 Bandit V, if you get stuck with anything that you need a check on, let me know. Murdo is 100% correct with the coils 1&4 and 2&3 is correct. Good luck with your project.:thumb_ups:

Thanks Phil, yes I would very much like some help. I can't figure out how the fuel lines go to the carbs, and which line is which. I'm working off bits and pieces and would really love some photos. My carbs are Mikuni, i'm assuming yours would be the same.

Would be in your debt. It may mean taking off the fuel tank though and showing me what is what, but if you don't mind it would save me a heap of trouble :)

Had a minor proceedure this AM, but all being well tomorrow I will remove the tank and snap a few to show you the path the fuel lines take. Cheers Phil

Thanks Phil you're a champion. Look forward to seeing what you can give me... maybe I can get the bike up and running sooner than I thought! :)

Awesome thanks that is very helpful! Couple more questions if I may, where do your connections to the reservoir tank go? The RHS I suspect goes to where the radiator cap is, where does the LHS one go? Mine has a t piece so it becomes two hoses... not sure where to put them.

The top left hose in the diagram is just an overflow that goes down to underneath the bike somewhere direct.

I have 3 connections that stem from the reservoir tank.

I get that one of those goes to the radiator cap near the thermostat. I'm guessing another goes under the bike as a drain as you said. The third one I'm not sure. I'm thinking it may go here (under the fuel tank). Does that seem right?:

Correct.... thats the water drain hose from the fuel cap that goes into the T with the resorvoir tank overflow hose which then goes to a single hose to ground under the bike.
